The F92 was on the podium twice.

    This new one? Not likely.

    VERY WELL SAID.

More proof that unfortunetly the cars make more of a difference than drivers.

    Wow this thread...

Kimi always complaining? Now he's blaming the team? Where do some of you make your **** up? Official interview he states HE made a small mistake and there was a communication error therefore couldn't get another run in. He even says the steering was fine.

How is that blaming the team and complaining? Rarely heard him complain before. As for overrated, look at seasons 2001 to 2007. In 2003 he was the only one to really fight with MSC who was in a superior car...

Massa needs to be exit from Ferrari. Yes we know that from the last couple of seasons but it seems Ferrari's 12th and 16th are being blamed on him. HE didn't design a turd, he only gets to drive it.

Funny that Alonso's mistake doesn't get mentioned at all. Had it been Massa that made that mistake people would call for his head.

OK, so Alonso crashed. Bad for him. Slap in the hand. But how many mistakes has made Massa lately?

Besides, that, Alonso was 12th because he ran off but he could have been in Q3 easily. Massa was 16th just because he´s freakin´ slow. He´s 1 second off, as always.

As long as Ferrari is out to lunch I'll be rooting for your man this year. :)

PS: Glad he and Nicole found back together.

Now I really wish Lettuce'd be driving with a Swiss license. :(

Will we see HRT in the race? Apparently they missed the 107% rule.

Just finished it on DVR. SHOCKING.

McL: Wow, The team to beat.
Merc: Great to see Schumi in a car with a chance.
Lotus: Is this the 2nd best car???
RBR: Time to get to work boys. You're close...
Ferrari: Lets see... the car is a pig. And you only have 1 driver who should be in F1... How about 2013.

After this first quali thre is so much I wasn't expecting I don't even know what to say. Congrats to Hamilton, Button and McLaren, they have done a great job in the off season. I am thrilled for MS and Merc, they seem to have gotten something right also. I'm dying to see MS really fight for a win and it looks like this may be the season.

Ferrari, on the other hand, looks to be a mess. Massa being a second off Alonso's pace when he didn't even finish the session is beyond bad. As much as I like the guy, he's not getting it done. If he doesn't turn it around quick, something has to be done. The question is who could they get better?

I'm looking forward tomorrow's race. It will be real interesting to see where everyone is in race trim. I'm pulling for MS, it would awesome to see him on the top step again if to only prove those who said he couldn't do it wrong.

Um, he's been in F1 before... Thrown in at the deep end without much support, too. His comeback has been nothing short of remarkable.

He's a smart cookie and hungry for success, more so than many others. Refreshing at this level.

The smile in the post quali interview tells it all!

Definitely!!! I may yet get that beer from Andreas after all!!! :D

Admittedly, my hopes had been dwindling that Mercedes would deliver a competitive car within the timeframe of our bet.

Hehehe - good for him! :D

I think that can be overcome if the teams unanimously appeal on their behalf and thus allow them to race - not sure though. I vaguely recall some cars racing anyway when they hadn't met the 107% time a few years ago, and think that's what happened in those instances.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

In most of those cases they had a practice lap within the 107% time.

HRT didn't run a single preseason practice. And De La pink didn't even have a car for P1 in AUS.

The only reason I would cut HRT any slack is that they basically reformed the team in the off season. If they are acting like a serious team now... I'd let them race. They need the practice time to be ready for next race.

Yea, that's what I was thinking too. If they are denied the race, the lack of data might mean they never race this year.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I wouldn't let them race, they are a joke, we all now they would've never finished the race
    anyway.
During the Qualy they were all over the place and frequently blocked other cars.

However, they should be allowed to do a few days of private practice, that situation is ridiculous.

That is why I always laughed about Rubens being ripped on for being "done" etc when he was driving a huge turn in the Williams. It appears Williams have thier crap in one sock now, but we shall see, it is a long season.

It is another reason my love for F1 is so greatly strained. Every year the car becomes more and more of the equation (I know I know it has "always" been that way the younger crowd will say) but that is why I was SO excited when Rubens went to the Indycar series - at least there you have a fighting chance even on a team as small as KV Racing. How many podiums do you think Williams will have this year? One, maybe two? It isn't that Senna and MAL or Rubens are not fast drivers, they just don't have the horse...

    And such is F1 today...

How are they supposed to improve when they can't test? The best thing for HRT would be pack up,... head to a track and test for a week.

Current F1 regs pretty much guarantee the back markers will NEVER progress with relation to other teams.

Race weekends are the only test session HRT gets...

    Ridiculous.

I'm going to start a thread based on all the predictions coming true thus far this season. People said I was NUTS for saying Mclaren would be the team and red bull dominance was over. People also said Merc would never ever build a good car and they are just another Honda or Toyota. Humble pie folks.
