I like the yellow because its different but I must say I like the 458 Italia red we put on the 78 resto too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
agree. I too had a marrone dino metallic 308. Loved the color, it was my first Ferrari. i dislike "red" as its a stereotype with these cars. same thing for some colors on certain muscle cars. i WANTED the off color cars to be different. My euro 83 308 GTS is red / black and in my garage because it was the nicest car i could find at the time. I would love another blue 308 ( I had a blu scuro car), or a yellow one. Just a few samples of None Red 308. I'm sure you've seen lots of black and yellow so I left that out. I would like to see a green one though. Very cool story. Love to see more pictures of your car, sir. Very unusual, thought it was ROsso Rubino at first. Thanks for sharing!
Glad to show her off! The color in person is almost a red burgendy, and it really attracts attention. I have yet to see another one of the same color. The interior is tan with black trim. Thanks for the interest. WilliamR Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I went with the standard red/tan combination as its my first Ferrari and that's the iconic color to me. I love but I have to say, this color is really beautiful. Separate from the Rosso corsa tradition, I'd say I like this better. (and it probably doesn't look orange in late evening light.. ) great looking car!
Flashman, I have already said it, but I say it again: that car is simply gorgeous...but I am curious: where did you pick up the idea, at the time, to ask for "Rosso Barchetta?"
Here is my Metallic Black QV for your comparison. And I do think that black is a stunning color on the 308s as it hides bumpers which some find less than appealing. I certainly wouldnt mind a red or a yellow. For some reason yellow has really grown on me lately... Oh and for the record I just cross the 70k mile barrier and you know what!! It didn't fall apart!!!! PDG Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nerofer, My Ferrari dealer in San Francisco had in his personal collection a 1949-50 ( I am not quite sure ) Barchetta that was in origional condition and painted that exact color. He said that was one of the first colors used by Enzo Ferrari when he was still with Fiat and first started producing his own cars. At least that is what he said and I had no reason to doubt him. I had never seen a modern Ferrari (1980's) painted in that color, at least around the Bay Area, and was absolutely "wowed" by the way it popped on that classic racer. We negotiated with the factory for months before they agreed to paint my car that color. What a job that was, and fortunately for me, I had enough extra money to pay for it. That added almost 6 months on to my final delivery date. The car is 31 years old and the paint is as nice as the first day I picked her up. It was well worth the wait. Thanks, WilliamR
I was pretty set on a black one this time. I just think it looks more serious/business-like. Still like red and all the other colors. Cant say that I paid a premium for it, but I did travel alot of miles searching out black GTB's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
RC was gracious enough to drop the bike over at our place for a few months and encorage us out to take it out for ride whenever we can.
Thanks for the answer William. It is indeed true that "Rosso Barchetta" was the traditional color of the cars Enzo himself did race, and of the first one he produced. I was curious of how you could have had the idea, because, as far as I remember, this was no official color for any car of the Ferrari's range at the time. You must have been quite persistent to eventually obtain it... Without being intrusive, does the paint label label under the hood say "Rosso Barchetta" with an official reference number? Well, you do have an unique and beautiful 308... Thanks again.
I saw you at the Enzotech meetup this past month, I was a guest of Murray (not sure I should broadcast that!) I took a shot of your ride, thought you'd like it Image Unavailable, Please Login
