Ron, I checked all the documents I have concerning the Lauda GTO. I do indeed have an "STA" number associated with this (Lauda) chassis number, but it's not any of the ones pictured a few posts back.
A red plate can be placed (and usually is) on a car that doesn't have a full time registration. Like just for the day. If by chance the F.W. registration on the black lettered GTO registration was valid during the June 1989 photos of the picture when I shot the GTO with the red letter plate, then it would be my guess that I took pictures of the Lauda car. If that makes sense. The only sure way to ever know is to ask F.W. assuming he remembers! lol. I was in contact with their race team about a year ago, so if it is something you or anyone wants to know, I can shoot off an email.

Hi all, I'm Mike Weaver, I used to own Exotic Car World in Irving, TX. Haven't been on here in 10 years. Glad to see its World Wide now =) A Ferrari friend of mine has a genuine 288GTO and needs to have a respected appraisal. We're in Dallas TX. Who does these nowadays?
