X in Warning Display 360 Challenge Stradale

I WOULD RUN AS FAST AS I CAN......

 

A warning like that tells me to not drive it anywhere let alone start it. Do you know anyone with an SD2/3 or Leonardos that can come over and give your ECU and TCU a reading?

 

I have this on mine at the moment, but it happened when i was fiddling with the wireing so i know its something I caused and of no concern ..... i believe an SD2/3 is the only way to cure it.

 

Had you a weak battery in the past days?

This symbol appears when the dash internal EEPROM has been corrupted. It could happen while trying to start the engine with a too weak battery.

It is not clear, from what I read, if the SD2/SD3 can solve that. If not, some specialized centers can reflash this parameters EEPROM with a valid content.

I just dealt with this on a F430 manual.

After exhaustive research this is what I found:

The "X" is a condition that sometimes rears its head from a jump start (or perhaps a electrical spike). It looks like from above that others have come across it when dealing with an electrical mishap.

Nevertheless I found a reference to fixing the "X" by going into the instrument cluster section with the SDX tool and doing this:

Plug in the SD2, go under the cruscotto-cluster program. Now go to the parameters setup and its in there as one of the options where you can change the initial settings on the cluster. The X could go as soon as you change the country selected as it has defaulted back to factory specs. Just encase the tech using the SD tool doesn't know, tell him to go to those settings and this could be your fix. I've have read about more than 6 cars with this problem after people have tried jump starting their cars with jump packs etc.

Anyhow, a caveat for you.

So I tried to do this with the F430. I went into the cluster programming with the Leo tool. I did see that in the programming the car had several items that had gone back to base settings. The brakes had defaulted to Steel (it has ceramics), the fuel type to Leaded (its an Unleaded car) etc. But the Country was still shown as USA. I tried it anyhow and adapted the new parameters with fingers crossed. The Leo did change the Fuel & the Brake type but no matter what I could not get the "X" to go away. I must have changed that Country setting 5 times too, with no joy.

After speaking directly with Italy on this they claimed the system normally shows an "X" with reference to the F1 gear box (this car was a manual though) so I even checked all of the gearbox settings but again with no resolve. At that point we decided that I may have to send the cluster to the motherland to get that issue resolved.

Anyhow it gives you more to go on. Please report back with your findings once complete.

 

TheLeo tool doesn't remove the X with the country selector. Only the SD2 can do that do you better get your hands on an SD2. It's not a biggie at all. You can still drive your car as normal. It's only giving you a big X = kiss (xxoo etc)

 

You don't need the cluster software. It is only the EEPROM, which contains the configuration parameters, which has probably been corrupted. Some of those parameters can be checked and modified with a SD2 but it is not a guarantee that it can have access to all the EEPROM content and remove the X.

The fact that the SD2 cannot recognize your cluster is a different story and is most probably due to a misuse of the SD2 (wrong car selected, wrong SD2 software loaded, ...).

The TCU software (F1 gearbox) has evolved a lot on the 360, as well as the TCU hardware, and both need to be compatible. There is no need for software update, and there is no newer software available, for your CS.

 

Even if there is newer software versions in would at least load on what I have just to remove the X(or may not) then drive to your ferrari dealership and get it looked at for a newer version.

 

There is a specific cable for the SD2 to communicate with the dash. You also need cable with CV225N on the plug to fit the SD2. You may find you can't reset the instrument panel through the OBD when it's in this condition without the use of the specific dash cable...
