There isn't enough room to drop the muffler due to the tips unless you remove the bumper.

My Wife and I will be in Montreal for the F1 weekend. We stay at a friends condo just around the corner from St Laurent around Sherbrooke where its closed down starting on Thursday night. It would be great to share a glass of wine with you or an espresso. Let me know via PM which guy you are talking about, I know several of the shops in Montreal so I may be able to give you some more feedback.

His name is Ralph and his garage is called Monaco Prestige. He worked alongside Luigi for many years.

Are you bringing the Ferrari in town for F1 weekend?

Oh, Okay that one I don't know. Nope Ferrari's not coming I almost brought it last year and my Wife warned me I may not find parking suitable for the car and she was right so I'm glad I left it at home. I may rent a cinquecento though just to have some Italian car with us for the event :)

    #4-carbon dip?

Are you going to have water transfer dipping done? I am intrigued at the thought.

Yes, I bought 2 carbon fibre dip lots from camodipkit.com

I will make sure to take pictures of the process for all of you to see. The process calls for painting the parts, dipping them and then applying clear coat.

I intend to have the body shop apply the clear instead of using the one supplied in the kit which is a spray can. I assume the body shop's product is much better and painting in the paint room will do a better job. However, do I need high heat clear coat for parts like the air box covers? Is there such a product?

And the bid goes on, so to speak. :)

How did you decide on the carbon fiber look, Fab? I've thought about adding some bits to mine, but I keep coming back to the thought that it would just look out of place on it.

I've seen pictures of it such as the airboxes and the owners were pleased + the photos looked good so for 99$, I went ahead and bought 2 kits. I will take pictures and document the process and let you know how it works out. Should have some pics up within 1 or 2 weeks.

I really needed to do something to that engine bay because it looks disgusting right now...

I'm looking forward to seeing your results with the DIY carbon dip. I might have to try a few parts myself.

    Keep up the good work.

Here are some pictures posted by another fchatter who did his airboxes. A lot of people say the fake carbon looks horrible but, judging by the pictures, I'd say it looks pretty damn good!

Here is also a video showing how the process gets done at home DIY

Went to the body shop this afternoon and decided to attempt the cleaning and restoring of my back window with the toothpaste trick. It made a nice difference and it did clean the window nicely but I'm sure the results are much better when using a high-speed buffing machine. For now it's ok!

I had 2 broken carpet retainers that were bugging me....Because this item is discontinued from Ferrari, I ended up finding a seller in Portugal that had them listed on eBay. Got 4 retainers with black rivets & shipping for 20 bucks.

drilled out the broken ones and riveted in the new ones. Took less than 5 minutes.

I also put the carpets back in the car.....I also have black carpets with the white prancing horse logo but I prefer the color-matching oem ones.

In the end, it is all about the details. ;) Just the other day, I realized how much the white paint on the shift knob in my 348 had worn off. It only took a few minutes to reapply some white paint to the numbers and it made a big difference when you look into the interior. Keep up the great work. You are getting so close to the finish!

Ferrari really didn't give us much room to put in the licence plate. I also got a licence plate frame from the dealer because I hate visible edges on the licence plate so it needed a contour. Since it touches on the bottom, I put some foam double-sided tape and left one side unpeeled because the backing was red anyway. This should provide a nice cushion to the plate and it fit in quite nicely.

Can't wait to take her for a spin now!!!

Now that is a slick idea. I also noticed the plate touching, but I figured that since a plate was covering that area, I wasn't going to worry about the rubbing. Quick thinking, you did.

Fab, I used Eagle One plastic polish on my plastic rear window on my Fiat Spider. It worked really well.

Thanks for the tip... I'll give it a try. Did you use a buffer or just rubbed it by hand?

As crazy as it sounds, I wonder if the type of toothpaste makes a difference?? Whitening toothpastes work by basically having more abrasives in them than other toothpastes (they actually scrub off a very thin layer of your teeth).

You've probably already got another plan of action, but if you wanted to experiment, you could always run through it again with a whitening specific toothpaste to see if that makes it any better.

    Just a thought.

She's out of the body shop and I drove her accross town today to Ralph at Monaco Prestige. It was a beautiful warm sunny day and I drove around for about an hour and loved every minute of it.....Fantastic!

Now it's time for the exhaust, some engine detailing and a few last fixups before I can say she's 100% done.

Will keep posting the carbon dip process and let you all know how that turns out.

    stay tuned!

And a fantastic Ferrari she looks to, well done:)
One thing I did with my extinguisher was to in case it into a leather sleeve. The leather matches the cream leather of the seats, looks class.
