WARNING! Purists should exit this thread now! It only took a year but in the end it was well worth it. I've always been a fan of the 599XX but not so much a fan of the stock 599. While the GTO filled in many of the missing gaps I still thought Ferrari could have done so much more (visually). Understandably there's a fine line Ferrari has to walk considering the demographics of their buyers and the purpose for which the 599 was built. That being said the 599XX pushed the envelope of aggressiveness and I wanted to duplicate a little of that in a stock 599. Hence the 599VX was born! Not bad considering some of the other modifications that are out there (I'm looking at you Mansory). I'm unclear, did this car start out life as a 599 GTB or a GTO?
It started out as a stock 599GTB. Not a GTO. It was inspired by the 599XX (hence the rear bumper with center exit exhaust).
Me neither! Ha ha. Bottom line was ALOT of design changes and wasted time making molds. Also installed the HGTE suspension package and had to fabricate the custom pipes to fit the rear bumper. Wheels were also custom designed and fit specifically for the 599. Between all the changes, different parties involved, holidays, etc. it just took time. Vorsteiner's modeler is a top notch guy but he's also as slow as molasses so every change took alot of patience! But in the end ... it was well worth it imo.
As a side note the entire hood is completely carbon fiber as are the front and rear bumpers, side skirts and rear wing.
Congrats for you patience ! The Vorsteiner Kit is the only cosmetic mod I love for the 599 I have no doubt you will Twin-supercharge it with a Novitec kit , after giving some rest to your vallet. ahaha
sweet! I was afraid you'd be taking it to C&C this weekend (3/25), which I can't make. see you guys on 3/31!
Will you be taking it to Supercar Sunday March 25th? I think it looks fantastic. Any performance upgrades?
Is this a one of one? I remember seeing pictures of a (the?) VX a few months ago and wonder if it is another car. I think it's fantastic by the way.
Nothing sounds like a 599XX! It sounds more like the GTO (which is awesome sounding imo). No. Unfortunately I will be out of town. I will be taking it to Cars & Coffee in Irvine on March 31. No performance upgrades (yet) other than the exhaust system. The previous car was this same car in a PRE-production state. All the pieces on the car were the original clay modeled pieces which were then wrapped for Concorso Italiano. The design was then changed and new molds made. This is the final product. Completely painted with final pieces.
