My tech just advised that the clearance between scud front caliper and scud shell rim is just 2mm. Too close for comfort ay? Anyone can shed light on this?

I can take a closer look when I get home tonight, but I know it is a very tight fit. However it is definitely more than 2 mm.

After measuring, the clearance is about 4-5 mm between the edges of the caliper and the rim. It is very tight fit!

Phew! Thanks buddy. I thought mine was setup wrongly. Yes, it's a tight fit compared to my factory steel brakes. But they sure look lovely. I really appreciate the time and effort. You are a champ.

Final update before bedtime: The brakes are on, wheels fitted back on, car is back on the ground and off the hoist so interior work begins.

First off, factory leather door panels removed, speaker wires removed and tidied up. Scuderia carbon door panels are not as easy a fit as expected. To begin with, the mounting points do not match. DUH? Of course they don't. No big issues, I'll fabricate some brackets to hold the carbon panel down. Locking mechanism all wired up and tested. Works like a gem. Lovely pull handle the Scuds have. No worries about them getting sticky or the "lock" wordings lifting off as per my factory 430 plastic handles. Great progress today. I'm a happy man.

A Friday mid-day update: Passenger side carbon door panel installed. Door locking mechanism tested and works. What a bloody relief.

Next up, driver side door panel. Once that is done, out goes the seats and the floor carpets. Wonder if I should send the seats to have the matte carbon back lacquered as well....

Excited to see more pictures of this car. The carbon door panels are a nice touch.

Dang! I knew you'd say that. I'll leave that for my next project after I get the cad drawings for my roll cage/bar.

    Spam time...

Updates: Ok. Went down to the workshop this morning and was greeted with a completely stripped out 430...my 430. Didn't bother me one bit. In fact, I was delighted as it allowed me to take a closer look into the innards of my FCar.

Door cards on driver side off to fabricate spacers to bolt the Scud carbon panels on. Contrary to what I figured out through manuals and Eurospares, the base door frame on the 430 and the Scuderia are not similar. The mounting points are completely non-existent on the 430 doors to hold the Scuderia panel. No fear...competent hands on board.

Engine top half completely removed. Carbon plenum on route back to the shop after a good lacquering exercise. Did I mention that the used damaged expansion tank carbon fibre cover was repaired and its now flawless? I'll post pix of that after installation.

Constant reminder never to let Mickey and his gang work on my 430...ever!

Carbon engine panels will be installed once the other bits go in. Can't wait for that day. Carbon heaven.

********...I'm in love. Simple upgrade, but massive appeal. I love these Scuderia carbon ceramic brakes. They are awesome looking chompers. Can't wait to use them on the speedway. The distance from the closest point of the caliper to the edge of the rim is slightly above 3mm. It's a snug fit but I've checked and its pretty close to what my mate's Scuds have. What a relief.

Utmost care is ensured for every sexy carbon surface...

Scuderia diffuser finished in glossy black.

GTO seats with matte carbon back sitting outside the cockpit. Don't be bothered by the way the four point factory harnesses are secured. I'll sort that out after this project when I get my hands started on a customised roll cage.

Scuderia bumper wrapped up, waiting for installation.

Ever wondered how the floor pan in a Rosso Scuderia F430 looks like after lifting off the carpet?

I ripped out the carbon today and was shocked to see that the floor pans were not completely painted. It was mostly the original factory white base with massive amounts of rosso scud overspray. Not happy at all. Guess they didn't expect their clients to rip the carpet off. Even the footwell was not painted. Thought the Scud was bare and ugly? Wait till you see the 430 without the carpets. Shocking barely describes my emotion when I first saw it.

No biggie. Once the other bits go in, I'll have the car on a flatbed towed to the paintshop to have the floor pan and foot wells painted in glossy silver, or glossy grigio silverstone to be precise. Simply love that colour.

Will remove all the soundproofing padding as well. They are not even glued down to the floor pan.

Oh yes before I forget, KARMA'S A *****. I remember myself laughing at the poor Scud boys who had to dish out money for a stupid looking MaCarbon footwell sensor cover. I felt that was ridiculous. How bad could the factory unit look.

That was till today when I ripped out the carpets to see a bare exposed sensor unit sitting in an aluminium frame....completely uncovered. Well, one could argue that the carpets were meant to cover the sensor in the first place and they are in fact right!

Now I find myself looking at MaCarbon's website placing an order for the carbon cover. Should I? Or should I just pick up from Eurospares the factory unit. What parts do I need anyway?

Help? Anyone with a pic of the factory Scud footwell sensor cover?
