If you listen to the youtube videos it is clearly a V8 and I have had this more or less confirmed.

5 MM are big money for a 458 with Enzo lights and a two tone paint.

With less than 5k dollars i could give to my 512 BB a two tone paint and the results will be even better because the berlinetta is beautiful and 12 cyl. And as Mr Clapton said in an Interview given to the Ferrari Magazine there's nothing better than a V12 sound...

I actually like it, I think it is a nice effort of doing something different to a standard 458 while keeping its nice proportions and bringing back details of past eras.

I'm not saying that I like it better than a standard 458 or that it's actually worth the millions, but as a one-off I think it's pretty cool.

This car is similar to the SP1 in that it's essentially a reshelled V8 Ferrari. The rear end treatment is similar to SP1 as well. Personally I think the two tone paint made a lot more difference than the body shell redesign. It's not a bad looking car, certainly not worth the 3 mil (if true)

Do you think Eric really cares how much it cost, the money just rolls in, if it makes him happy....

From what I can see, the changed design elements are not improvements. The Boxer hood grills don't fit the form of the front and make the area look cluttered. The headlamp area treatment is much less elegant, and the egg crate grill... well. I hope this does not set the tone for the 458 replacement in 2015-16.

    Thank you for posting.

Interesting. The back looks a bit MP4-12C ish. The 512 paint works on that particular car.

Regardless, $4.75 million seems awfully high to build it. I have no idea what the P4/5 cost to build, but I would think less Clapton's car.

Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina including the donor Enzo cost less than that.

P 4/5 Competizione M including the two donor cars that went into it and two years of racing cost less than that.

Wow Jim. Think Clapton was raked over the coals? Ya.

Hopefully his car will generate 1/4 of the interest P4/5 has that way it won't be a total loss right.

I figured as much. Moreover, I assume that even today you could recoup your P4/5 money many times over with a few phone calls. Although Clapton's car is a really nice piece I can see it rolling across the Barrett-Jackson stage in a couple of years for a very healthy loss.

I highly doubt that the reported figure is accurate.

That said, I think that it's beautiful. It's the first modern Ferrari that I really like the look of. I wish the 458 looked more like that, especially the headlights and rear. I know it's not for everyone but they did a fantastic job on it.

Can't say I like it . 458 still looks better. And the price...can't be accurate.

Granted, I'd have to see it in person. But the comparison to the P4/5 is a good one, and in this case I think we have what I would term an epic fail.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the P4/5 started with the concept of building a car that was visually very similar to the original P3/4 and then morphed into a modernization of the car. What emerged from this was a unique car with historical flashbacks but it's own distinct look. It looks NOTHING like the Enzo upon which it started.

This think looks like someone tried to make a boxer replica out of a 458 - which is exactly what they did. It has lame recreations of boxer styling cues added onto what is obviously a 458. And it's missing the best part of a boxer - the engine.

I'd be pissed at any price.

PS: I just read the quote in the link where he talked about being a musician and loved the sound of the V12 music. Ouch.
