Why is it most Ferrarists don't like aftermarket wheels on Ferraris ? Many of these same people had aftermarkets wheels on their Porsche and or daily driver.

Bigger wheels on the early cars is often an improvement especially with handling.

my 328 goes on 16" split rim compomotives
my 308 qv runs on 16" split rim gotti's
my 308 turbo trackcar goes on 17" split rim compomotives

i love aftermarket (as much as i do split rim:):)) but than again, i'm probably not like most owners anyway:):)

I suspect it's the same crowd that doesn't like fake tits or tattoos on a beautiful woman.

All it takes is one cheap / tasteless feature to ruin what is otherwise a work of art.

It is a mentality. IF you have the car to make it as fast as you can etc, then there is nothing wrong with it.

If on the other hand you are a guy who looks at the car (usually but not always classic Ferrari's) as a piece of history or artwork then you leave it as it left the doors from the factory (with the exception of pipes it appears).

I am working very hard to get my car back to OEM, but I think Brendan's 355 looks wicked with the aftermarket wheels he has.

I would NEVER put aftermarket wheels on my 308QV. In fact I paid a great deal of money for another OEM set of rims which I will have refinished for my 308 to make it even more OEM and better looking than it is right now.

The other problem is so many people who purchase a Ferrari put stupid looking things on it (see the link: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eIAUDTthac[/ame]

That thing is a disaster. There is one for sale like this too but I can't find it on ebay anymore. There were exactly 0 bids; stunner.

    MB,

I can understand why you don't on the 308 . Then again you aren't an after market wheel guy.

Ok, I've never been fond of the stock wheels on my 89 328 - at all. I would do aftermarket for sure. I do like 5 spoke theme tho.

Some fans are purists and that element will always exist no matter how good the choice of aftermarket wheels. I think if the wheels are tastefully considered then aftermarket can look excellent.

I like "some" aftermarket wheels, but I've also seen in Hollywood some gawd awful wheels on Ferrari's.
