Just got offered a local 1986 US 4-valve DD car with 4,000 original miles for North of $200,000... I will ask the owner if I can post pictures.
SuperGuru, Are you interested in the DD? Do you still have your CT and if so would you be selling that one? I am not sure if you are interested in the DD and if you ae if you still own your other CT and want to sell. I would be extremely interested in either car. I am just very interested in stepping up from my Jalpas to a CT. Cheers, David posted here due to PM limited exceeded.
Yes, I spoke the owner in detail Monday..Red/Tan car..original owner..here on Open MSO from Italy..no DOT/EPA papers..will need to be exported to Canad and brought back in correctly if you wish to get it titled and plated here in the USA..needs at min $10K service maintance as well as new titres, another $3K..asked what I thought it was worth since I had mine advertised at $259K currently. Anyone intrested or picks it up and needs help with the export and re-import, I would be glad to assit.
My dad still has his Miura SV and Countach and Diablos... He will never sell. No interest in the DD, but I have a very good friend who was interested but NOT at that price. If you want a Countach it sounds like you may have to buy from Roy as he is purchasing them all : )
DAMN! You are dialed in. We are thinking it is my "uncle" Pete Gandolfo's old car. He originally had the car brought over by Nastasi as part of selling him the indoor boat facility Marina One in Fort Lauderdale. For a few years he avoided EPA/DOT's letters and calls. The car was sold in 87 or 88 locally so what are the chances there are 2 US bumper DD cars... Roy, have you seen any pics?
Ive received several calls today about this car, its provenance, its current status, and the price being asked..
I am curious on why one would have to export then import back to the USA? I am not disagreeing with you, I am however curious and a bit puzzled as the car is a 1986. Thus it is more than the accepted 25 years in age not to be subject to the DOT and EPA requirements as it has been here for 26 years. Does this not apply or is it based on things that I am missing? Can you explain? Thanks Vic
John: We would love to see Miura SV 5024 one day! Perhaps you can make that happen? This red DD QV is being offered everywhere by multiple parties. Your friend is right to pass at that price, considering it might require $75,000 to be spent on it. However, as with all Countachs, they can be made right. Speaking of maintenance, somebody had contacted me today to ask who I use for all my Miuras & Countachs. For quite a few years, Ive used Claudio Zampolli (Lamborghini factory engineer at Sant Agata from 1967 to 1975). This man dials Miuras & Countachs in like nobody's business, and every car he has worked on for me has been a reliable rocket-ship. Best of all, his invoices have been reasonable IMO. By the way, please e-mail me the info (pics & details) on the Miura P400S. Send my regards to your dad, will you? Best,
Vic, if a car was here illegally to begin with because it was smuggled into the country, if tipped off, USA customs can still seize the car. Furthermore, a USA-based dealer would want to sell this car to a foreign resident, and then go through due process to have the car properly imported to gain USA paperwork if the end game is to have the car live & operate in the USA. Once this is done, it can be titled in the USA. There are a fair few cars in the USA that are in fact illegally here, in some cases unbeknownst to their current owners to whom they are in fact a liability on several fronts. In some cases these cars have surreptitiously gained USA titles through channels official or otherwise. Anytime you come across a grey-market era car with no EPA & DOT papers, ask yourself why, and seek to see if the aforementioned car was legally imported. Hope this helps.
Yes, and the head's up on it I sent you in an e-mail on Monday. AFter your response the current owner ask the Deal on this car in a different fashion and not provide info you were seeking..I will respect his wishes at this point unless he notifys me fifferent. ..so I guess any one with true intrest can contact me or John..as I think we are the ONLY 2 that have current direct contact with the now owner..
No, I'm speaking of the silver/blue LP500S. Regarding the red/tan DD QV, the chassis number is already known. Posting the aforementioned chassis number will only provide a seizure target for US Customs. Understandably, that is why he does not what the chassis number posted. As I said in my e-mail to you on Monday, you were right to offer him $160,000 given its needs and what has to be done to get it legal.
Have look at how this engine has been reworked. Nice car. http://www.adamcarolla.com/CarCastBlog/2009/12/03/1984-lamborghini-countach-s/
Was going to meet up with Gene next week to show him everything! Next time you are in Florida give me a call. I will, thank you Joe!
