Thanks for the link. I've seen it before and IIRC I posted that article here but I don't remember if anyone commented anything about the tuned engine/carb.
Looks a lot like the car that "xrated" was trying to sell a couple years back. I recall there were questions about it's import status.
Tim, this is the car of which you speak http://www.carcollection.at/index.php/fahrzeuge-cars?task=view&id=70&catid=1
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIOHnEFriQg[/ame] Just saw this - fabulous driving! Sorry if its a repost - worth a second look IMO.
Its already being discussed in the Countach values thread. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=356564 The earlier posting: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=141331181&postcount=579 My response: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=141331748&postcount=584
The black 88.5 Countach was being driven by ex-F1 driver and Le Mans winner Henri Pescarolo, a gentleman very familiar with driving at the limit!
My favorite quote from this footage: "at 300 km/h in a Testarossa, you smoke cigar, at 300 km/h in a Countach you swallow it!".
I was going to ask if any french knew what he said when he mentioned the Testarossa, very funny quote. Thanks for translating.
So I now have a picture of the first Countach I ever saw! Didn't have a camera with me the day I saw this car at Frank's shop in 1985. Thanks
Just thougt this today: Is it the heat from light bulbs that warms gauges, so needle gos "bananas" or do Countach "bananas" naturally accour? ...one more reason fro LED ligths.
Gents I missed this earlier - I vaguely recollect this car being for sale in the eighties, in poor condition, when I inquired about the car the local NSW distributer told me it had been sold overseas - never seen it since. To my knowledge there are currently only 2 S2 Countach's in Australia. White/tan imported from Hong Kong and Black/tan previously Green. A silver/Blue car was repainted Red/tan and exported to NZ. Joe do you know if this car is still in Australia?
Yes I think so, last time I saw it was at a Melbourne car dealer called Duttons in the mid late 90's - I wanted to buy it but was repeatedly told it was being temporarily stored for the owner and on display only. It vanished after a few weeks....
But there is currently a LHD series one being restored in Sydney that was recently imported a couple of years or so ago from the US.
