Pardon me if I am overlooking something. I have scoured the owners'manual but cannot seem to locate how to adjust the tone controls (bass, treble, balance, fader) for media (radio, satellite, hdd, ipod). Does anybody have any insight? Is there any surrround processing like there was in the California?

It must be tucked in the menus some where. I looked on both the right and left TFT menus. It is sitting in my garage. Drove her 5 miles yesterday. Rain most of the day today. Ya know that rain melts those Italian cars! Perhaps I'll get to stretch her legs tomorrow!
    Ciao!

That is a good question. I don't think there ARE any. I've tried looking myself. I was going to ask the Dealer one day.

Maybe you have to buy the premium system?

So did I. I jumped on it to adjust them at the time. I hope I will never have to do it again because I don't think I could find it again except by accident.

I got my car back from the dealer and now it has the TIME above the Speedo on the right side. I have no idea how they did that but it wasn't there before.

There has to be some mystery modes somewhere.

If using an ipod, you can help the audio quality a tone by setting that equalizer to something you prefer. I find the rock setting to be pretty good.

I know it's a different system, but in the 599's premium system from Bose the equalizer and tone control settings found in the non-premium configuration were made inaccessible. Scott from LaJolla found a way to program the head unit to make those hidden items available. Was a tremendous improvement.

I have the premium sound system. Perhaps Ferrari feels if one pays 5g for a stereo, them one oughtn't have the right to modify the sound. I merely want to pump up the bass for Ozzy! I'll be searching this am.

I have to laugh with all of you and at myself. For a bunch of guys who presumably have the "smarts" to get to this as contrasted to the Volkswagen forum, to not know how to access a menu, is worth a chuckle.

I "earn" my place amongst the laughable as follows. I (somehow) found the setting to turn on my front parking sensor, using the left hand screen. Afterwards, I could not use the screen again when stopped and when driving it is too dangerous to try, so it reverts back to the setting I chose before my misadventure. For two days I "hit" the VDO and Main button like a madman (with accompanying expletives). Yesterday, dropping by the dealer, I am shown there is a button above the mirror that operates the sensor (who knew). Amazing, the screen works again.

As for the radio, I am still at the "on and off button" level with the radio coming on magically, or so it appears. At this rate, it will be months, before I can be of any help here.

Adding to the challenge is the fact the 458 glove compartment is too small to hold the manual, so when a question does arise, I am in too much of a hurry to open the trunk and read. It may become my new "passenger". Best

Figured it out. While in playback mode (radio, satellite, or iPod), press and hold menu/setup Burton and the aerosol control screen comes on.

I keep coming to this site because of learning something new every day. Maybe I could break down and read the manual but this has never been my forte (too straight forward). For example, and try not to laugh too loud, I did not know there was voice recognition, until I saw it listed on the picture above.

Question. When discussing using my phone, the dealer said it is "easier" to dial OUT then to use the car, while receiving calls is straightforward. Is there an easy way, once you have a "address book" listed, to "simply" call out (using voice recognition or whatever)? Best

Actually Robert the "Voice Recognition" feature in the 458 is better than what I had in either the Mercedes or my Lexus. Go through the manual and set it up, once it is setup it works for me 99% of the time. The Lexus and Mercedes system was poor, unbelievably the 458 system is really good.

A buddy of mine who bought my Mercedes, just got a 458, and he even remarked how much better the "Voice Recognition" is in the 458 than in the Mercedes. That is in case you were thinking it was just "my" 458 that was working, but I guess it could mean that my old Mercedes just wasn't working:)

I have a Mercedes as well and agree (so there are at least two that don't work well). I am encouraged, and if works as advertised be a big deal for me, thanks. Best

I have tried to find "Audio Controls" to no avail. Based on the picture it is on the right hand side of steering. I can only activate anything related to "voice" by pressing the button on the opposite side of the steering wheel which incidentally very LOUD (can't find volume to turn down) and does not respond to dial a number.

As I have said, this is laughable, but I cannot figure out the manual nor by playing with system how to manage it.

    Any help out there?

    Best

I have had two 458s, among the other 5 Ferraris I've owned so far.
The "obtuse" nature of Ferrari manuals where of no help, and I stumbled across the controls by accident. My 430 is so simple to use (in all respects), I'm considering "dumping" the 458, and Noviteching the 430.
I digress, the picture posted has me re-thinking and I'm about to give it another shot, thanks!
    Will advise, and thanks!

It would be nice, along with a written manual all cars would come with a complete video presentation (especially these days with so many electronic features). I have owned my car for several months, and finally discovered (believe it or not) where the door lock was located. Best

You are a genius! İ think that solves all our problems regarding this topic. İ guess in the Ferrari logic, all problems are solved if you keep on pressing the button/gas pedal:)

It drove me crazy trying to find the audio controls until I found this thread! I'm wondering how many people have driven their cars for years without realizing you can actually adjust the treble, mid and bass levels!

This is SUCH a relief. I was thinking I was just too old and dumb to have a 458 and try and get the control screens figured out. I've had my car for three weeks, and have thoroughly read both the thick owners manual and quick guide. NOTHING in either book that says the parking sensor switch needs to be turned off to access the left screen when not moving. Turn on the ignition, and I couldn't do anything with the left screen, and then when I'm MOVING and going over a certain mph, the screen works and you can switch things around. So the book says to NOT be playing around while driving, yet that's the only time I could get it to change. Of course all the "safety messages" in the manuals are absolutely disgusting.

So after three weeks, it is possible to figure the screens out, but a person just has to keep getting after it, and not give up and drive the car with whatever is on the display screens. I have the JBL optional sound system and certainly found the controls for that.
FM reception frankly is horrible in the car, AM is also bad, so I guess if I tire of listening to the 570 horses behind my head, I'm gonna have to figure out the devices I need to get tunes in the car. I know it's got the optional hookups in the glove box for something. Maybe I'll have to dig up a CD or two and try and figure out how to make them work. I had a service done on the car and when I got it back my clock disappeared on the right screen. NO PROBLEMO- went to the left screen and actually figured out HOW to turn it back on. You can teach old dogs new tricks! Maybe I'm not as stupid as I felt for the first week of owning this car.
