From Chad McQueen's site: http://www.mcqueen-racing.com/page4/files/e2ced07931eeba29adab1548ab9b41bd-10.html "Mulholland and the Rock Store July 2011 There was a legend floating around Los Angeles in the late 1960's that a steak dinner at the finest restaurant in town would be given to the police officer who could catch up and issue a traffic citation to Steve McQueen. McQueen frequently tore up Mulholland in one of his many cars, especially his Jaguar XKSS, and the first sports car he purchased after gaining his role in "Wanted Dead or Alive", his 1958 Speedster. The reward remained unclaimed. That legend was in the back of a few minds as Chad gathered with some friends near Mulholland for a reunion of sorts. Several special Porsches joined Chad's recent orange 911 project car." Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, I meant I have seen the EBay listing, but just to clarify, I have not seen this car in person either. And I don't want to
The 1977 RUF Turbo has Alois RUF's own 5‑speed transmission. This specific car was one of the original ones tested by the German car magazine, Auto Motor und Sport. This car was bought back by Alois Ruf and restored by RUF Automobile. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alois Ruf has a deep respect for the heritage cars thus his attachment of importance to the original 930. So much so that he used it as a comparo for debuting his new RT 35 celebrating 35 years of Ruf. How much does he like Oak Green metallic? Enough to paint the new car in the same livery Replete with Black Watch Tartan seat inserts! Better detail. Nice to see Ruf's salute to the original Porsche Turbo! Tastefully & thoughtfully done, he maintained the original Fuchs wheels (the ONLY wheel that looks right on an original 930), the original steering wheel, etc. Much respect. The script on the sides and the "frunk" is pretty fruity imo. I'm inclined to remove but will probably leave it on there for originality. I was thinking to have dupes made and just have them new in the packaging if/when I ever cut her loose. As far as mechanical mods go, as far as I can tell, the drivetrain is all stock with the exception of a zooty muffler. One guy who looked said the turbo may be an upgraded unit so I'll get some numbers off it and see. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If this helps you, this is the style of script Kremer used for its logo in the era. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is the script used on the sides of the Walter Wolf car, surely the most powerful and most extensively engineered street 911 based on a 3.0 930 re-manufactured by Kremer. You can see the script they used on the sills. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Kremer always kept copies of build sheets of their customer cars be it Mario Andretti's or Walter Wolf's. So, you can verify if it was done by them or a privateer modification (there were a lot of those). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Joe that is so cool, thank you for posting this. Your making a lot of us on here, want an early 930 Turbo Carrera with this thread. Always a terrific job on your part. As always your information is invaluable.
I love Ruf's Oak Green 930, but I think the rear spoiler starts to look too cartoonish. Other than that what a beautiful example. Now that I can read the script, I'd consider removing it too. It seems a bit goofy. Thats wonderful to see Kremer kept build sheets for all of his cars. It makes things so much easier in terms of verifying how it left a facility, especially in todays day and age when people often make claims of things being done at a factory or a high end shop, when it may truly have been done by a place that cut corners to save a later owner some money.
Took all these pics awhile back, which ones are 930 Turbos? Any other special variants? I think the NY plate is a 'slantnose' but I'm not too keen on older Porsches. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The red one appears to be a nice unmodified example of a 3.3 ltr 930. This thread is dedicated to 3.0 ltr 930s though, and neither of the other two (I'm not sure what they are) is a 3.0 930 Turbo Carrera.

That was a fun day Joe!!............Plenty of CHP's and Sheriffs out to keep everyone a "little" honest.......Mike
We really must get the cars together... Perhaps we can engineer a rendezvous: "From Stuttgart with Love - Mc Queen's Machine returns to Orange County" impromptu event. How does that sound? Then you can sign my copy of 911 & Porsche World It could be the first gathering of the 930 Turbo Carrera Owners Club where the attendance of at least 2 cars qualifies as a meeting! Mind you this club prides itself in having absolutely no event organizing skills whatsoever so meeting dates are expected to be both spontaneous and irregular No agenda & no newsletter. My kind of Club. Image Unavailable, Please Login
