Please kindly refrain, from making personal attacks. My guess, Joe is much more, than just a used car salesman. Nobody offers more information on this website, when it comes to both the Miura and the Countach.

    True.

The BB's, do not really have much of a pecking order - aside from the 365 BB.

The BB, is somewhat stuck in the middle. It does not fit with the classic front engine 12's, and at the same time, it does not offer the performance, of the modern production cars.

No doubt, the BB offers a lot of car (a genuine F car) for the money.

Unless someone wanted a specialized C/T variant, why would someone pass on this model, if it was a good original car ? It is not like you are going to outrun, the latest hot Mustang variant.

I believe you have made your point.

We are not going to have 47 posts on this subject.

Please keep the discussion related to just the Countach.

    Thank you.

I do have an ulterior motive for offering as much info as I do:

To serve the Lamborghini community as I have done for the past 2 decades, and to facilitate my business.

Anything wrong with either? I don't think so.

Even if it is only to facilitate the latter, so far as the information I offer is well-researched meaningful & helpful, I am sure it is appreciated.

Writing & publishing the Miura book was with an ulterior motive too. Same as above. I haven't had any complaints.

Lets refrain from getting unnecessarily personal and focus on what we are here to discuss: the Countach market & relevant values.

    Vic:

I dont think you answered smglop's question which was: "are the critisims directed at this particular silver car or all 500s as being the "worst variant?"

Your response was great and it highlights the problems most have with what the seller is asking for the silver/blue LP500S.

But smglop's question is one that all LP500S owners will have. According to Bradjohnston, it is the worst variant by virtue of its performance, but I always thought that the smaller-displacement LP400S with small carbs was the slowest of all. When it comes right down to it, I think people will pay the least for Countachs that been compromised by USA DOT mandates, barring condition of course.

I'd like to see some test data with this variant versus the LP400S S3 with small carbs.

The standard fuelie unit in the last-of-a-series Annivesario which I have found to be pretty reliable compared to previous variants and is one reason I find Annivesarios good value for money for someone who actually wants to drive a Countach.

Well, the car does have a somewhat unique rear bumper. Being that it is the "test" car for these features might make it rare, but rare doesn't always mean desirable...

No this style panel was fitted to all LP500S headed to the USA in that period. See this Nero example. Walter Payton's Blu Acapulco car had the same, and at least a handful of others I can recall from somewhere in my archives.

And yes, rare does not necessarily = desirable. After all, Tuberculosis is rare ....... :)

Ahh...I always thought the bumper was shaped slightly different then the production version, but I guess I'm wrong...

You are right. But this first series panel adorned not only the silver/blue car, but at least half-a-dozen early LP500S bound for the USA. The one you refer to as the "production" version is the second series of rear panel and it is far more prolific. Most people have only ever seen the second series.

FWIW if anyone is claiming that the bumper on the silver/blue car is unique, then they are incorrect, as proven by the pic of the black car at the very least.

I am to lazy to get in and pump the pedal :D I am sure that after it starts like a Toyota it sounds alot different :)

Pumping an accelerator pedal is a lost technique. If I get an older car in the shop, and one of the "younger" guys has to move it out, they cant get it started, because they never drove a car with a carb before. I guess I am showing age

Yes you are correct as I do not believe I was specific enough.
To clarify things I mean the FI versions of the LP500S are the least desired and not the carbureted versions of the LP500S.
I also believe that this thought is shared amongst most that are in the know on the different variations and collectability of all of the different models.

I not saying that the car is not desirable, I'm saying that the value the seller is placing on it is not realistic not only in my opinion but the markets opinion as well.
