Peter, Mike, Mike, and Mike are team Forza. I'm running security for the cooler to protect against disqualifications. (and running the grill)

Ah, just checked ... it's on 5/22, not 4/22 as Pat had inferred. I'm on the fence, I can be pushed either way.

That was one of the most fun days I had with the Ferrari. The ride over being led by DJ Mike, the girls (oh the girls), and the fashion show at the Scorpian Bar. Good times!

That was indeed a great time but if I had to pick an absolute best day with the Ferrari, it has to be at the Ferrari Challenge at Lime Rock this past summer. Following Pete's perfect line for 5 laps or so hitting triple digits in 3rd gear on 'parade laps' was priceless.

If we can get a team of 4 together I'm up for it. I've just asked a friend if she'd be interested. I'll also enquire with the organizers today and see if they've got room for another team.

OK, I've got two people who are interested but just don't know if they can get loose. I'm ready to sign up the minute I hear from them. It really sounds like fun.

BTW all, won't be at Sunday gathering... seems we've made brunch plans. Might be a little thin on the ground in Glasto next weekend.

Well, we single folks still have extended family obligations.

Best wishes for Easter and Passover. See you guys next Sunday -- I'm sure we'll have a massive turnout of the weather holds up.

Last I knew it was kicking and farting. He thought it was a coil pack. Dunno how far he got with the troubleshooting.

I saw Saltie that morning. He said he went to start it and it idled at 750 RPM with a backfire or miss of something. He thought it was a coil pack, not an expensive part. Phil and I were talking later and Phil told me that the coil pack is a $22 Subaru part. :)

I hope for Olin's sake it's not a big issue.

Mike: Sorry to hear this, I read the thread you started on the subject and I think you're right in calling it a head scratcher. I find it hard to imagine that the battery issue played any sort of role with the gearstick, though one could go out on a limb and imagine a short circuit current passing through the chassis welding, fusing or breaking some small parts. But with a short straight to the frame it's hard to imagine this current concentrating in the linkage. You are lucky the battery didn't crack or explode.

Once it's up in the air you can start looking at things... hopefully it's outside the transaxle. Been a bad couple of weeks for some cars around here.

FWIW, I have a story to relate: Many years ago I was with some friends in Wales and one of them had an early VW campervan. Just as we were getting home at the end of a long drive, there were sparks and fire inside... a metal folding camp chair had found the "leisure battery" (used to power lights and things while camping). Frightening.

BTW, I misspoke in my reply regarding Olin's car, it wasn't a coil pack but an ignition module, I'm assuming a solid state device.

Wouldn't a coil pack drop multiple cylinders from firing creating a very rough , hardly running engine?
A "slight" mis or pop may be a gummed up fuel issue or unbalanced mixtures, may just need fine tuning..

Might need to balance the left and right banks.

Check the plugs maybe that will narrow it down to a cylinder missing...bad wire or wires, *How many distributors on this car?
    Thoughts

Sorry, I haven't logged on here in a little while. Last time I had the TR out it started backfiring a little bit after I had already been driving for a few hours. When I pulled up to a stop light I noticed the RPMs were down to about 750 or so from the normal ~1100. There was, however, no noted drop in power. I maintained less than 3000 RPM and went strait home as soon as I noticed this. The next day I started it up and the exhaust from the right bank was cold and the idle was still low. I thought (hoped) it may be the ignition coild module. I swapped the modules and that wasn't the issue. Since then I pulled the plug wires and checked the resistances, all came back as expected. The points in the distributor cap had a little buildup on them, so I cleaned them up with a brass wire brush.
Sadly, work has been a little hectic as of late, so that's as far as I've gone. I'll stop by later this evening to put the plug wires back in and see how it's running.

I think my next step will be to check on the fuel injectors, but it seems to me with the lower RPMs and the slight backfiring are more signs of a cylinder or two not firing. I may be completely wrong here, though. Wouldn't be the first time, and I can guarentee it won't be the last...

I'll keep you guys posted with my findings.
