....and 5 moths later it has a new clutch...... :)

    =======================================

What a great thread to watch and learn from. It completely solidified my opinion that if you are going to buy any car that you intend to keep, getting one the needs work is the ticket.

You make the decisions on what work is done and it leaves the shop exactly as you want it. Maybe not the cheapest move initially, but I suspect long term this was the way to go.

As always, Bradan's service is excellent....and the maintenance on these threads is greatly appreciated.

We have been chasing down all the interior electrical issues. The doors and rear lighting harness has been rewired to repair burnt and modified wiring.

    David,

The 348 is not an easy major especially if this is your first time. The single belt and potential updates needed leave allot on the table. Do plenty of research and feel free to call or email pics.

now this worries me... while I know the 348 major is a big deal, most of the posts here don't throw as much fear into me as the above statement.

So i get the engine out, how would I even begin to know what I'm missing?

That's the issue for most of us who are pretty decent mechanically and have access to the tools. (Heck I have TWO lifts at my garage)

We don't know what we don't know.

As much as I like working on my own car- I just am not sure I would know what looked wrong if I saw it.

For me the biggest thing is the timetable. Even with the usual delays a competent shop has your car in and out in 2-3 weeks tops. A few guys I know have had their car laid up for months.

Doing my own major is something i would like to tackle some day, just not on my current 355.

    Jay,
You should have waited...we could have done both of our 355F1's together!
Now we will have to wait a few more years.
But - I would be happy to get my hands dirty on one of your other babies

Where did you find a carpet Daniel? I have been looking for one for months with no luck. Even two shops couldn't make me a carpet because it's molded and to many bends.
If you don't tell me I'll bring back my white 348 to you for paint work and you what happened last time mister!

    Paul-

Nah let's crack yours open... Always wanted to see the inside of a 10,000 mile 355 engine. What's the worst that could happen?

Jay answered it very well. I really don't recommend trying this without an experienced set of eyes watching you.

The owner found it on Ebay. If you could find that rear glass I have faith you will dig up a carpet set. I think it's the same as the F355 if that helps.
