    Hello all,

I have several friends with Ferraris, and am looking to buy. I have joined FCA and the local Kansas City group. I thought I wanted a F355 Spider, but might be a little scared off by the amount of maintenance for a rookie. Can anyone help recommend something in the 50-60k range that won't be crazy to keep up? I would prefer a Spider, but realize I might have to give that up.

    Thanks for the help!

I'm currently doing the research on Ferrari as well and came to the conclusion that I can have open air, a mid-engine and lower maintenance with a Ferrari 328. Unknown to the world at large, but quite well circulated among the Ferrari Tefosi is that the 328 stays on the road longer; has less maintenance and lets its owner down less than practically any other Ferrari ever built. That doesn't mean its a green machine or gets great gas mileage. That means that there are a lot of great 328's out there with a bit higher mileage than other Ferrari for reasons just stated. They are on the road and not in the shop. If you get a GTS, you have open air, as opposed to the GTB. Good Hunting-Alex Ford, Simi Valley, Ca.

TR's are really low right now, and a nice mid-80's car can be bought in the 50-60k range.

328's are a fabulous first Ferrari, and so are 308's. I guess 550's are a bit out of your range.

If you want to enjoy your Ferrari with minimal work, please buy the very best you can find, which has had reasonable use in the past 3 years. Paying OTT for a Ferrari has, in my experience, always paid itself back if not in lack of maintenance then in pure joy of ownership. $10k extra spent is worth it for a truly stunning car.

    Good luck!

The 348 will add more power but remove some of the Classic style. The 308 just doesn't have enough go. The Dino provides a beautiful classic Ferrari design lines. Any of the F's can corner. It's all about budget and a pre-purchase inspection. Zioo
