FERRARI 288 GTO

No matter how many pictures one see's of the 288 GTO it never seems to become any less beautiful, my rather random observation!

 

It may be the last classically beautiful Ferrari.

 

It does have a tendency to grow on you...

Wow, 55K! Is that record for a 288 GTO?

 

I'd like to suggest that's 55k kilometers not miles.

FWIW I'm aware of at least 1 car with in excess of 100k km.

 

Any pics of the bare or nearly bare block for this engine? Searching for oiling system information throughout the various V8s. thanks

Anybody know the car with UK registration "3 GTO"?

 

Is that a new car you've come across or has someone been putting a lot of miles on? Around page 170 I believe 75,000 km was the high mileage mark.

I love to see them miled up. Think of all the great memories for both the owners and onlookers!

 

Page 170 was circa three years ago. Since then the received knowledge has revealed quite a few more cars.

Well if there's one with so much mileage that it's 50% the cost of other 288s lemme know;-)

 

Fitted with engine number 53, delivered to famed cartoonist & publisher Albert Uderzo by Pozzi in Paris on 25th Jan 1985. Exactly as when he owned it, Ferrari France badge, "F" sticker and 6187 NA 92 plate still affixed.

Mr Uderzo certainly enjoyed his Ferraris! I think there are nice pictures of his F40 LM in several threads here.

 

Just purchased by a thoughtful collector who is an accomplished racing driver!

 

Just received this bit of good news from a client moments ago and wanted to share:

"Joe, just thought I would pass along a bit of information to you. As you know I have been looking for tires for the 288 GTO for awhile. BFGoodrich just came out with a new tire ( BFGoodrich grand sport comp 2 ) in a large assortment of sizes which include 225/5016 and 255/50/16. The BFGoodrich web site indicates that they are spec'd for a 7-9 inch rim and the GTO has 10 inch as you know. The new tires were suppose to be available for shipment in April so I preorders a set and received them this past week. I took the GTO into Ferrari of Houston this morning and had them mounted, they fit fine no problem at all and boy do they make a difference in the ride. Just wanted to share in case you had others asking. Thanks M. G."
