Well, at least Hot Wheels doesn't have to design a silly paint scheme for the scale version.

Good call :D. The gold rims are abit outlandish in contrast to the color of the car but the gold pinstripe imho works and brings it together quite nicely.

I think it might look much better if the wheels were black with gold accents (it would improve the Ferrari logo in the center, too), but I imagine the Chinese market wants the full gold treatment.

Considering the market, I kind of like it. I like the gold rims, little bit of flash but different. Always liked the rally cars with gold wheels.

My thoughts exactly. Love the color scheme. Could go without the dragon tattoo

I especially LOVE the red carbon. It looks absolutely stunning. Is this model limited to 20 pieces?

I think this will go over very well in China; Chinese aesthetic is not the same as Western.

When my business unit first went offshore, we proposed a run-off between Chinese, Indian and US outsource teams with full concept to volume production ownership; which included industrial design. The industrial design aesthetic of the Chinese teams attempted to model a Western style but were subtly off; but the Indian teams didn't even try, delivering prototypes that appealed only to Indian culture. After viewing the results, we decided to keep concept to industrial design in the US as 80-90% of our market was Western; but with the remainder outsourced. But as Western companies move into China and India, they need to remember that the reverse lesson holds true also.

I like the hood stripe we only have to remove the dragon. They should have put another dragon inside instead of outside. It is perfect else! Color, gold rims, the painting on the side skirts. Very clever of Ferrari to limit it to 20 pieces....

I would be curious if Ferrari caught on to another factor. If you're going to do a special series run in China, certain numbers have more significance or desirability; that could show up in the series size or serial number sequence. For example, a typical Chinese buyer would be more interested in the car if the serial number was something like 1888xx; where xx was 1 to 20.

Compared to the GT3 green 458 posted last week, this is quite nice.

Pretty neat but the dragon bit is too Asian for me. I'm sure all 20 are already sold.

The Chinese love red, gold, and black. You have to understand their cultural tastes to really understand why it looks the way it does. It's not a cliche' -- they actually like this sort of thing.
