    Bot the muffler and the carbon calipers are coming...I just picked up the parts last night at Monaco Prestige and Ralph has removed the oem muffler but hasn't put in the Nouvalari yet.

    I'll get some updates going with some pics and videos soon.....

    Turns out I should get some tires also since mine are old and cracking. No one had noticed it until now because the outside looks great and the threads are nice and deep so they still look kinda new. However, in the light once the tires are off the car, the cracking and drying becomes very noticeable on all the grooves of all 4 tires.

    I don't want to take any chances so I ordered a set from discount tire direct for 910$ including shipping, duty and brokerage to Canada.

    Budget is taking another big hit.....damnit!

    Local Tire dealers can't believe the price I got...

    Stopped by for a visit this and to collect my parts for detailing.

    Very impressed with how nice, clean and organized Ralph is. Monaco Prestige is a great place and the level of service is outstanding.

    I also bought brakes for nothing because frankly mine are still good. I'll return them to Ricambi and hopefully they will take them back. They're usually great with stuff like that.

    My air hoses were all dried out and cracked so I found a set of used ones on eBay for 110$ including shipping. They arrived today and look almost new.

    I'm going to do the plenum chambers in red with grey stripes and plan to do everything else in Carbon hydraphics including the calipers.

    I can't wait to see how it looks and I'll see how durable it is.

    I haven't begun painting yet but I noticed the engine parts were very dirty. I sprayed CLR all over the parts and then put them in the dishwasher for a long scrubbing cycle. They came out super clean and looking new.

    Now I have to sand them down and prep them for paint/dipping

    Fab, thanks for posting those pictures. I was wondering what alternative jack stand points would be and your pictures clearly indicated very good ones. By using those points versus the jack points the car is being suspended in a very stable state.

    You are doing a fantastic job on this car. Hope mine turns out the same.

    Yes, the Auto Glym should help clean up a lot of the engine compartment.

    I ended up powder coating my air boxes because the paint was coming off, and due to the heat.

    All done with the Hydrographic carbon dipping and it turned out to be a lot of work. First off, was dissapointed with the kit from Camodipkit.com They say the film is 2 feet by 8 feet but mine was 1.5 foot by 7 feet. I had to try to manage and I'm glad to say I succeeded in getting all my parts done.

    You have to sand and clean all the parts (calipers were done with brake cleaner first). I also needed to mask some silver lines I had painted on some parts.

    Once dry, tape off all areas you want to mask, then use the base coat paint supplied in the kit. the color is important because the film is semi-transparent. I then let the paint dry overnight.

    The next morning I dipped all my parts. You must cut the piece you need and then tape all the edges. the outside part of the film then goes directly in a tub of hot water. After it's in the water for 1 minute, you spray the activator, then wait 10 seconds and dip the part. Once it's in the water, use your free hand to clear all the debris out of the way and pull the part out of the water. Immediately, you must then rinse the part with low-pressure (it can take 15 minutes of rinsing before the slimy texture goes away) This is very important!

    Once everything got dipped, I let it dry and then stencil painted the Ferrary logo on the calipers with high-heat silver paint.

    All the parts turned out great except for the engine bay lateral protection panels. I guess they were just too big to manipulate and they got all messed up. I ended up getting a free leftover part of 3M carbon fiber black bubble-free wrap and I wrapped them. There is also the middle cover that is difficult to dip and didn't turn out great so I ended up using some high heat black paint to tweak the design and it balanced everything out.

    Finally, I used the matte clear coat included in the kit to finish all the parts. At first I was dissapointed that the clear wasn't glossy but I now prefer it since I don't want the car to be too flashy/tacky with all this over-detailing.

    We now have to see how it holds up, I will let you all know.....

    I also did my plenum chamber covers in red high heat paint with silver stripes. I masked the grooves between the stripes first in order to avoid getting too much paint thickness in that area and then painted the silver stripe in silver high heat paint.

    Once done, I removed the tape and resanded the area around the stripes, let it dry and then covered the silver stripes.

    I then hung them up and sprayed them with red high heat paint. let it dry and remove the tape. No clear coat is required on this.

    Looks awesome! can't wait to see the parts on the car.

    Brought them to the garage today and I should have the car 100% done and ready to enjoy for good by next week!

    Did you look into how well the carbon fibre dip will hold up on the brake calipers with all the heat generated?

    I like what you did with the plenium cover.

    Thanks for the kind words, I looked all over for information on caliper refinishing and found nothing besides painting so I decided to pretty much become either the pioneer or guinea pig of dipped calipers. I'll let you all know how they hold up.

    My 1990 TR has been off the road for months, and I get it back from an engine out service, new fusebox, etc tomorrow morning - so, of course, I am going crazy and don't know what to do with myself. Then I see your thread in the newsletter tonight, and I have spent the last few hours reading every word. Great job!

    I didn't realize you were from Montreal until I saw the guy wearing a BMW Laval ski hat (I used to live outside Boston before moving to sunny Malibu, CA and had been to Montreal many times).

    Everytime someone chimed in about the paint color (leave it green), I thought 'yes, leave it green!' but I have to admit, it looks FANTASTIC in the red you chose. Then I thought 'don't take it apart, you'll never get it back together!' and again, you did it. Amazing.

    I see I dropped in almost at the finish line - I can't wait to see what the car looks like with new tires, exhaust, etc.

    Congratulations on finding the coolest way to survive a northeastern winter :)

    Hello Fab, you did a great job on the dipping process. I was wondering about the sheen on the carbon dip look. In the pics that you showed as an example of the carbon dip, the air boxes had a glossy finish. but it appears that your carbon dipped items are not glossy. Is that just the pics not showing the gloss or is that a choice that you make when doing the dipping? Thanks!

    Indeed it's been quite an adventure and my biggest concern was to not have it ready in time but it should be ready this week. Believe it or not it has not sunken in yet that a Ferrari will be sitting in my garage and I will have the keys at my disposal.
