What do owners of a new Porsche think of their quality? I participated in the Porsche Driving Experience while at Amelia Island last month. Brumos Porsche provided the cars. I noticed that the marque/model emblems on every Porsche were pealing/flacking. While cosmetic only, I would be very upset to spend $50k+ to $100k+ for a car that had such problems in only a few miles/months. Is this a common fault?

MY 1982's badge is still in excellent shape...seriously I think that other German cars such as MB, BMW and Audi have taken shortcuts to compete with the Japanese but since Porsche didn't really swim in those waters those cuts wouldn't be have to be made...maybe it is because of the VW takeover/acquisition?

Then again, i'm still in shock over the Panamera...

I have never noticed this and it happened on every car there? The model emblems, while plastic, except for the badges, are painted silver in most cases so they were all pealing? If you're talking about the P badges some times they are coated in a clear coat material and can flake initially. Seems odd that every car had this?

Interesting that a fleet of demo cars had this problem. I haven't seen peeling emblems on modern Porsches.

Having owned several over the years, I've found Porsche quality to be top notch. My DD is a 2006 Cayenne TTS that lives outside in the California sunshine. No paint, trim or mechanical issues whatsoever. However, it does eat tires and brake pads and drinks lots of gas and oil.

In the garage lives a 2011 GT3 that is basically new, so no issues there. I traded a 2007 Turbo for it and that car, with 35K miles, was rock solid.

They are not without their faults. Coolant lines can blow loose- happened to me in the Turbo. RMS & FMS failures/leaks occur. The GT3 has a weak LSD for track use... but these issues are all fixable and, typically, covered under warranty. (maybe not the LSD...)

My Porsches held up (exterior/interior/drivetrain,resale value) a lot better than the Chevy Suburbans and Ford Pickups I've had. But then, they should. They cost a lot more.

All of the new German made cars stink, talk to a body man or mechanic and see what they think! Lots of plastic and BMW is the worst. 77-83-911/930 was a great car. Simple, very little plastic and built to last. The old over built german cars are gone and the new bean counters only care about profit. It's no wonder there called depreciation mobiles. Look at the new 4 door porsche, what a over priced toad.

I have an 06 Carrera 4s with 57k miles. It's OK inside. The Aircon buttons lost their paint (+/- signs) and the black is material covering them started to peel away a long time ago. Same for the material that cover the door panel (when it's not leather or plastic).

I remember my mother's E36 interior after 8 years and 70k miles was still very good.

I got a very early production Panamera 4S. Took delivery Jan 2010.

2 years and 16k miles and it does not have a squeak or rattle anywhere. Zero trim or cosmetic defects or wear. No service except scheduled maintenance.

I had a few 911's in the past and I'm thrilled with the build quality. Especially considering it was so early in the production run.

I have owned 39 of them, the only one I ever cursed to the 04 Cayenne TT, that one had a lot of issues, though it did bring my twins home from the hospital.
