Anyone using Bridgestone S-04 tires?

Better than what? It's a different tire for a different application (driving conditions). It depends on how you drive your car.

 

All I can say is "why"?

RE-11. MPSS. End of story. (I can't believe how good my RE-11s are...335 miles through some amazing mountain roads today...sticks. Period. Amazing.)

Agree totally.... RE-11 is my favorite tires and are now my F430...

I have S04 Pole Positions and love them. I have taken some lumps on here comparing them to RE11's using data from the Bridgestone website. The other day I got caught in the rain and they were simply awesome in the wet, had a lot of fun actually. You have to go to 235's on the front, but I have had no problem so far. Cheaper, better wear numbers, quieter, better in the wet and only a little bit less grip in the dry, perfect for us non track everyday type drivers who like to push it occasionally.

Bridgestone is finally revamping their lines, and most of the new ones are HUGE improvements over the old lines. Currently the S04 is my favorite Bstone tire. Most of the performance of the RE-11 without the compromise.

A friend replaced his RE050As with S04s and he says they are better in EVERY category, from grip to ride comfort.

He even drove his G8 in the snow with the S04s on, he said it wasnt pleasant but not huge deal.

 

I was speaking to the Bridgestone Representative today, as I had ordered RE11's, and he told me to go with the S04's as I don't track the car, and it serves my purposes better. I understand why some of these guys go with the more track oriented RE11's though.

 

Pretty sure I will order these in the next couple of days

 

hey guys I don't mean to jack the thread but, since we are talking about the re-11's...

I had the factory Pirelli tires on when I bought my 430 last year, now I have a set of re-11's and it feels like I don't get the performance I used to get out of the Pirelli's.


yeah it sticks and it's a great tire but I feel like the car got slower....


any one else feel this ? or am I just getting use to the speed lol

 

Thanks for bringing the S-04s to my attn. Based on the comparisons w the RE-11s, they sound good for me as i do not track my car and value a sticky (not suoer sticky), quiet, and comfy ttire.

 

How can anyone hear the tires on an F430 over the, um, F430?

Are some tires so loud their noise is actually annoying over the V8?

 

I went to Discount Tire today (I've purchased many sets from them in the past) to get prices for my 99 360 to replace the worn front Pirelli PZeros ($860) and for a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (I put these on my Jaguar XK8 to replace the PZeros and loved them) $1030. I enquired about the Bridgestone S-04. They list them for the front but not for the rears. I guess the 430 uses a different rear tire size that the 360.

The F430 has a different diameter wheel. It's a 19" instead of an 18", so totally different all the way around.

 

I guess I'll go with the Michelins then.

I kinda thought the same thing when I put my RE11 on my car but the truth is the car got faster cause it sticks more now... Before I used to break the tires loose all the time but that was because the tires were old and dry rotted!!!

 

I did a lot of research and I now have RE 11s. I am very pleased with them.

 

I am about to have all my tires replaced. I know the tire dealer (Discount Tires) replaces the valve stems every time. However I noticed that the stems on my 360 have the lock nuts. Are these special to Ferrari or just regular lock nut type stems instead of the all rubber ones?

I have S04?s on my 430 Spider and RE11's on the SCUD, both are brilliant but it looks like the RE11's might not last all that long

 

Generally a higher wear rating implies less stick on dry pavement since the compound is harder.

 

They stick far better than any Pirelli's esp in the wet

 

Taking car in for service. Need new tires. Asked re S04's and was told they don't make them to fit 2001 360. They recommended S02's. Anyone used these and have comments?

I felt the same way, but its because I could no longer tear the tires loose at will. But they were clearly "faster" just not as "twitchy" and much less dancing, that the brain associates with fast, but the stopwatch does not.

The RE11s are one of the finest tires I have had the privilege to drive on. I am not sure what compromises people are referring to; RE11s are awesome in the wet, in the dry, they are inexpensive, last a reasonable period of time, and are quiet. Sounds like my date last saturday night
