He was sliding around like a slick track racer. His tires were shot and Renault took a big risk leaving him out like that.
What an unbelievable race. Congrats to Nico. I think pretty much everyone showed very good / respectful racecraft, with minimal contact. Shame for Schumi and Kimi though! edit: Looks like my Mercedes prediction before the end of last season has been accurate! http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140958096&postcount=15
The last 20 laps or so where quite intense. So so so disappointed in Schumachers race end, would easily have been a 1-2 for them. At least we know that the Merc can win. Lotus choose the worst possible strategy for Raikkonen I think. If he was on Grosjeans strategy a 4th place would have been possible, perhaps even a podium. Vettel unfortunately dropping off as well in the last 2 laps, but not bad for starting 11th. So so close though :/ Disappointing result for me, very happy for Rosberg though.
Best race for 2nd place I've ever seen. Who won? Oh yes- well done merc and Rosberg. Exceptional result for Rosberg- amazing race weekend with probably his best ever quali lap followed by a faultless race. I doubt he'll have many better performances in the rest of his career. Lucky that the track temps fell right into Mercs very narrow sweet spot. Don't expect a repeat performance next week in the desert. Ps- BBC handed it to Sky for coverage quality on tv.
Not certain about the 1-2 finish...the McLaren's passed Schu in the pits, and had Jenson not had a difficult stop, he may have beaten Nico (MAY have, not WOULD have. Nico was pretty good with the tires today)
Haha they interviewing a Chinese Ferrari fan on the grid. They asked him why they like BBC and he mentioned that BBC1 has the best coverage and is better than Sky.
What a bad day for Schumi, but a great day for the Arrows. Happy to be at the race today, but really wanted to see Schumi on the Podium. I was amazed with how many Kimi fans were in the stands. It appeared only MS had more. Next week should be eventful, lets see how the tyres hold up for Petronas in Bahrain.
I believe he would have overtaken them in the pits as well.....it would have been nice to see that fight unfold though. It's good for F1 to see this parity as well.
My guess would be that Michael will end up having a mechanical issue with the car in the upcoming GP as well. Not cursing or whatsoever. Coming from a fan of MS. But not looking forward any longer. I said this earlier, MB (or Schumacher to be exact) could be showing very good results during practice and qualifying, but there is THAT event that will bring Michael down.
Huge congrats to Nico and Mercedes. Very dominant win. On that note, the mechanic who released Michael's car.......................ugh
Congrats to Nico and Mercedes! It was fantastic to see Rosberg get the first win for Mercedes after those 50+ years, well done! Also super delighted to see RB back on pace and Vettel clawed his way back. Another solid job by Alonso while Massa did what he normally does these days: Absolutely nothing. A great race in general. Shanghai is becoming one of my favorite tracks as it showed that a good combination of KERS, DRS and a wide track with long straights does lead to action packed racing and passing. F1 doesn't have to be a dull procession. This season looks to be a lot of fun with so many cars and teams so close together. As a Ferrari fan, well, I guess we'll have to wait at least for Barcelona to see anything change.
In the meantime, Fernando, quoted by Autosport, just said that: "Bahrein should probably be our worst race of the season: it's all about top speed and good traction, and we've got neither". Massa said the same, more or less. And it's probably a bit far fetched to hope for rain in Bahrein...
