Are we to conclude, then, that predatory lenders
    are the new drug smugglers?

Possibly. I see every now and then a tv advert advertising their lending (Indians also) and if you look quick enough the interest rate says 1000% .

Yeah, keep an eye out for a Cigarette boat docked in the Long Beach harbor this weekend ready to make the run down to Mexico.

Not to attack anyone, but there's another payday lender who often frequented this and other automotive forums who claimed to sleep with a gun under his pillow.

There are usury laws, and I think we can draw our own conclusions.

Yesterday I heard from a reputable source that as of Wednesday at least, it was business as usual for Level 5.

No, Chas, I didn't hear this from Casey.

since when was Casey ever a "reputable source"?

but yes, supposedly it's business as usual, at least so far...

It is known implies it is true, so I must kindly ask for the source of this knowledge, or some verifiable proof. The reason I ask, is that I don't see where he ever won a championship...which seems to blow holes in the credibility of the source of this knowledge, since something like winning a championship seems like a big fact to overlook.

That's pretty funny...considering Long Beach GP Timing/Scoring shows them there as we speak...I didn't see where they ended, but was P2 in the last practice session, iirc.

Although I tend to champion the cause of the underdog...I do love a good train wreck as much as the next guy, but think we are a bit premature on this one!

Setup was nice, but Audi had everyone beat with their cars...especially those LED headlamps...those were ridiculous to see in action.

Source is another dealer. This dealer has been in the Challenge from the beginning.

In 2009, ST won 10 Challenge races. He was the Series champion.

ok. fair enough. I'd be inclined to believe them myself without much question. Except, in this case...they are wrong.

Mark Mckenzie is the 2009 Champion, he won by 5 points.

It may be wrong that he won the Challenge championship (which is my mistake for not confirming), but he did win 10 races that season. And, he has won a SCCA national championship (T1, maybe?). And, an ALMS LMP2 championship.

The shop was dead the day before I posted my comment - parking lot was empty. That info was relayed to the owner I talked to and communicate with nearly every day. Guys in the paddock making the presumption that Level 5 was f**ked at that point was fair. Don't believe me? Ask Tim Pappas what he was thinking when the Feds dropped the hammer.

Clearly Level 5 is somehow insulated from this mess for the time being. Its only a matter of time before Tucker's goose is cooked.

Tucker never won the championship, he came close and I think one reason he kept coming back year after year even after going pro.

This year marks the 20th year of Ferrari Challenge, so many people have come back year after year.

I enjoyed it for what it was. Sometimes, it's time to move on, though. At least it was for me.

He "won"? What does that "mean"?

Records show him"winning" three SCCA national titles in a "row", including last "year"

You mentioned racing against him, do you know him personally?
Assuming he finished ahead of you when you guys raced together, so how did he "flaunt" in your face....since you were technically "after him". ;)

Comments like yours always make me laugh, because they are ridiculous and only meant for incendiary purposes...admittedly very entertaining to read . That's what makes this country great though, I must say.

I think he means that it would be impressive if ST "won" a championship in USF2000, or Pro Mazda, or say spec racer ford. There are championships, and then there are championships.

Am I alone in shaking my head when I see him described in the FTC related stories as a "professional race car driver"?

Level 5 is a named defendant in the FTC proceeding, along with ST, his brother and a cast of thousands. Perhaps an admin law expert can explain the sort of remedies available to the FTC quickly. My assumption is that a resolution will take a while, assuming the targets fight hard.

he "won" by getting SCCA to allow a race car (430 challenge) in a production car series, lots of his competitors were pissed about it. SCCA has since changed that rule (back to its original intent).

you seem to be defending Scott and/or Level 5 pretty vigorously, do you have an affiliation with him?
