Well, you know, you've made so many bold predictions (stated as fact) over the last few years based on information you got from journalists, that have proven to be wrong that I'm surprised you still have the respect for them you do.

Let's face it....if a journalist gets a whiff of a story and runs with it, there's a chance he'll be right...that doesn't make good or reliable journalism though.

You seem under the misapprehension that a person is going to be open and truthful about everything they tell a journalist, knowing full well that it's going to be in the media. Think about that, there's ego, pride and $millions at stake, so, would you?

anyway, that's another story for another place.

Or a Button - It was Jenson himself who pointed out that Nico beat him by 2, it took Jenson 113 races before he scored his first win, it took Nico 111!

Granted progressive jourrnos get it wrong occasionally. But without journalists we would only have orchestrated press communiques and conferences. I prefer people who occasionally get it wrong over folks who only tell you what you already see on TV.

While its foolish to expect high journalistic standards from the race press (their livelihood is dependent on the wellbeing of the sport) on occasion they do find a truffle.

    Usually. Not always. ;)

Personally I find Motorsport to have good analysis and a historical perspective.
The Piola tech annuals are a good guide to what's under the skin. Too bad they're more than a year out of date when published.

Not really sure what you mean by this, but it goes waaaaay back (even on fchat) with me and my dislike for Shumi, from when I was a Senna fan and subsequently for 19 years as a Barrichello fan and how I thought RB got the royal shaft at Ferrari primarily due to MS and his band of supporters (which are far and wide here on fchat). Many chatters and I have some good banter going so I thought I would throw a little gas on the fire...mostly tongue in cheek, but some truth behind it too.

I also raced many vehicles and bikes for 10 years, and trust me when I say that the fact that MS's luck is balancing out now just makes me laugh in general, but even moreso because of the background and history.

Finally, I am sure his "misfortune" today won't cause him any lack of sleep, as I am quite sure he is doing just fine, so if you are implying that I wish others any TRUE misfortune, you would be incorrect. In fact he was smiling and winking at us from the pit stand at the end of the race, so I am sure he didn't consider his misfortune to be any big deal.

I didn't mean to pick out any F Chatter by my comment.

The best part of this season is the rise of Sauber, Lotus and Williams. While I hope for a Ferrari rebirth these are the guys that excite me.

In short, I'm just trying to say that luck is not on Michael side. And based on the past few races, there's always an unexpected issue that happened on him.

    LoL!! :D

The cable tv came back on lap 48 of the race. I think anyhow it was a great race to the finish. Amazing race from Nico. Great sportsmanship from Michael at the end.

Now, bring on Bahrain. I hope they'll put 2 DRS zones there, one on the start/finish line, and the straight just before the start/finish line.

I suspect, if Merc can win another few races this season, MS will definitely extend his contract, stay and assault for the 8th title.

I suspect he may regret posting that! ;)

    Just saw the race.
Great race all in all with Nico (my driver) finally getting his first win.
If Merc can keep it up he may go all the way.

Shaping up to be another great year for F1.

For what it's worth, I have been cheering for Rubens this season in IndyCar, and he was FAR from one of my favorites in F1.

Out of curiousity, when you imply that Barrichello got "the shaft" at Ferrari, are you implying that he could have beaten Schumacher on equal footing? I would say Rubens got anything but shafted. After witnessing Irvine's role within the team for years, RB knew what he was getting into when he signed up with Ferrari. MS was clearly going to be the number 1. Rubens got to drive the best car on the grid for years, resulting in a trophy room packed full of podium trophies and several wins. Barrichello was able to have his shot at the WDC in 2009 and couldn't get it done. If he couldn't beat Button, there's no way he could have touched Schumacher, team orders or not. Let's just say the level of empathy I have for Rubens is, similar to his countryman Massa, very low. He had a career 99.9% of the drivers on earth would kill for.

Also, I'm not sure what makes you think MS was exceedingly lucky throughout the course of his career. He went to Ferrari and "made his own luck" by piecing together an amazing time around him, working extremely hard and being extremely good.

I can think of numerous instances where he was very unlucky (the failure at Silverstone that resulted in a broken leg, tire blowout at Suzuka in 98 that took away any hope of the title, suspension failure while leading at Monaco 2000, engine failure at Suzuka 2006 while leading that cost him the championship, etc etc.) With a career that long, sometimes you catch some breaks, sometimes you don't. This year has been brutal though, MS must have gone to the McLaren-era Kimi Raikkonen School of Getting Lucky (est. 2002) in the offseason.

I thought it was a fun race, other than the obvious disappointment about MS. Congrats to Nico and I was very happy for the whole MB team. Now if Ferrari can get their act together this season has the potential for a titanic WDC battle.

    Roll on Bahrain...

Watching the BBC coverage this evening - they really need to keep the alcohol away from Eddie Jordan before the pre-race show. Yikes!

Great race and Alonso drove the wheels off Clifford and did the very best he could ... that car and it's design team needs to be retired effective immediately.

Congrats to Nico and MB. The conditions played into their hands and their tire management was perfect. No doubt in my mind MS would have come second.

Bad luck for fred as traffic hurt him but the car is midfield at best. I think heavy aero/suspension mods are coming but might not be enough....

    LOL

I'm sure Webber had some bad memories of his Mercedes flip, on the Mulsanne straight of Le Mans in 1998 or '99.

    Huh?

Are you referring to the incident in Valencia 2 years ago?
