As earlier discussed in the shanghai qualy thread, i noted there were several minor aero updates on the f2012. With Ferrari planning to bring a large and radical upgrade to May's Spanish Grand Prix, there were only a few updates to the F2012 in China. From Formula1.com: Two small fins have been placed under the mirrors to better direct airflow on top of the sidepods (upper arrow). A small fin and vertical turning vane have also been added to the lower section of the car, below the sidepod opening (lower arrows). Image Unavailable, Please Login
They better be counting on some major upgrades from wing to wing. Its the 5-6th fastest car on the grid now, mid field can not be comfortable words spoken in Maranello.
Seems that they're focusing on the back of the car. Either they think that's where the issue is or they've just given up on the front. Can't wait to see the more comprehensive changes coming.
That is where they are lacking in traction (and tearing up tires). Makes sense to figure out how to get the rear stuck to the tarmac; far better than taking grip off the front to balance the car.
I'm hearing more and more that their sidepod update will not be seen until Mugello. That to me is a wise move considering they could bring several updates yet ruin a Friday practice simply finding a baseline.
