Great care was taken to ensure my car was level so i'm sure this has quite an effect on the readings.

It would be interesting to see if F.I. cars weigh slightly more and what about Anniv
cars? Probably the same as a 88.5 i would guess. A good friend of mine is just about the only one left with a US DOT bumper on his car.... i will ask him to weigh his.

Oh sorry, I thought you were joining the debate as to whether that is a true BRG, and believe me that is an on-going debate amongst Bentley, Aston & Jaguar people :)

They are in actualy pretty good condition, no cracks, not hard etc etc..I drove on them for about 10 miles, no flat spots, no pull etc etc..I am not sure I would do a 100MPH in them..but ???

I did average 50 plus in them for the trip however..

    Roy,
PLEASE be very careful. This tire should not be driven on. It will ruin your day and this very special car.
Also, the rear OZ wheels are incorrect for the car. The front are correct Campys.

I'm not sure but the carbs should not have the small 40's but the bigger 45's.
    Can someone confirm this?

Regardless, someone buy this great car!!!!

yes, rear OZ are incorrect for a 400S

    while the 40's are correct
some S2 had 40's, later cars most
this is a late S2, so 40 are ok for it

agree 100% on the last thing: a car to buy

I can confirm that Ruote Ozzetta did not have Nuova Lamborghini SpA's account till 1982, so you are correct, Campagnolo is the wheel supplier till then.

The Campagnolo wheel is distinguished by its port-holes being larger when compared to a later OZ wheel. Campagnolos are both rare & expensive.

40mm carburetors were fitted on LP400S S3 cars as standard equipment, with only the late S2 cars receiving these, so they are OK. Remember the basis of the S3 was a more 'user-friendly' Countach, so, increased ride-height and smaller carbs made it more drive-able. The big racer's 45mm Webers were the stock-in-trade of the LP400, LP400S S1 and early S2.

    Hope this helps.

Damn! That tire is dry rotted.

Like Peter said the tire should not be driven on period.

Get them changed as you do not need the liability as a seller either.

    Thanks Emilo and Joe.

There is dry rotted and then there is those slices. With the front tires doing pretty much all the braking, the corning, the stopping...it is just a matter of time, like very near future, that that tire will fail.

Hey, I have a set of P7's. Rears are from 1978 for which is the year of my car and the fronts 1980.....I have been so tempted to put them on and drive. Just because it would look so right. But I would never.
My plan is to take 4 or my 6 Bravos, mount these tire and hang for display. Regardless of what some say of the replica Bravos, I want a set with new P-Zeros to keep on the car. Only mounting the original set up for shows.

Thanks for your comments and concerns everyone. Just a FYI, I of course would not recomend driving the car on these tires. We of COURSE, by law as a Dealer, have a notify and release form signed WHENEVER a tire is date coded over 7 years. These tires are just for the sake of the originalty of the car. A possible buyer will be advised of that and the form will be presented to them and signed prior to a sale of the car.

I DO have a BRAND NEW set of Countach tires, that are with in the Date code...and of course, I am sure for a serious buyer of the car, we can negotiate them in somehow.

As far as the rear wheels, I just looked, correct they are OZ..I will have to check the warehouse, I think we may have accidently switched when it came in. When the car came in, I first had the old tires removed and NEW tires placed on the wheels...as I drove it about a 100 miles plus myself to enjoy it and evaluate it. Then prior to sale placed the old tires back on for the originalty of a possible buyer...so I am sure my "Lot Boy" did not notice the difference in the wheels when mounting dis-mounting etc etc..but that is my fault as he really would not know this small detail.

I will check later today and advise..

Thanks again for pointing this out to me.

    Roy

The only way to tell if they are dry or dry-rotted is to mount them and bring them up to pressure and see if they crack or not. If they crack, they are basically junk. If not, they are fine for showing. You are right, nothing looks better than the original P7 tread pattern on a Countach.

Roy I believe your headlights may be inverted on your 400S.
I think the one on the left is low beam light and supposed to be on the right side.
The other one is the high-beam and is supposed to be on the left side of the box.
I may be wrong, maybe someone can confirm if they are indeed reversed.
