haha that was a cool video. Hes a great driver but Im actually happy to see a different winner each Grand Prix...It got a little boring watching him destroy the competition every race last season.
He doesn't suck, but I would say his talents were flattered by the car last year. He also can't seem to cope well if the car isn't to his tastes, as evidenced by this season so far with Webber outqualifying him and leading him in points.
I read translation from a German newspaper that quoted his girlfriend as saying he does that very well. I can not confirm the accuracy of the translation.
Compared to Webber last year, he certainly was very talented, granted they typically had the same car. However, I still wonder what another driver like Alonso, Hamilton, Schumacher could have done with the Red Bull equipment. I still think Vettel is very talented, but probably has some maturing to do, as evidenced in this season with some of the choices he's made.
I wouldn't say Vettel sucks, just highly overrated. He's good when he has a perfectly balanced car that is the class of the field. But when he doesn't have the car he wants, he can't make the most of it. This is why I think Alonso is the best driver on the grid. He gets the most out of the car (even overachieves), no matter how good or bad the car is. Alonso likes a car that understeers, and even though the F2012 lacks rear downforce and oversteers, he gets the most out of the car. Malaysia is a perfect example of that. Win the race from 8th on the grid in the 4th fastest car, and nearly lapping your teammate in the process.
I think that's a *little* harsh, but yeah, as of right now I'd have to pretty much agree. When it's perfect for him, he can beat Mark. Right now, not so much it seems...... First rule of F1; Beat your compadre. Long way to go yet, but it seems Mark may just have the upper hand at present. Cheers, Ian
He's a double world champion. However you cut it, that doesn't qualify you for a 'sucks' call... Now, Massa on the other hand - well he wrote the book on how to suck...
The RB6 and RB7 were designed and built by talented people. The driver could have been anyone(even Massa). It just depends on which driver the team decides to favor in terms of setup and development and with Vettel being the younger choice it was his chance.
Team cars are usually set up to suit the #1 driver on the team. Vettel is/was the #1 driver on that team. As is Alonso. I say usually, because McLarens seems to be different. They have very different drivers, and they set each car up for that specific driver. One reason they are always so consistently strong.
I appreciate how Seb, being a true sportsman, has taken a breather and let the rest of the field have some fun.
