Oil lights fault F430

I would be concerned with this condition. I would advise not driving the vehicle until this is sorted out. This is because although you are correct that this is likely an indication issue, not an oil pressure issue, the risk of driving without oil pressure is too high.

I do not know what the oil temp would report if hot oil stopped flowing. The oil temp is not the concern as you are correct it cant cool quite that fast. The issue would be if the oil was low, sump clogged, pump failing, etc, and the flow stops flowing past the temp sensor.

*I dont know where the oil temp is picked up on the 430, not had the pleasure. Because I can not find a specific part for it i will have to "assume" it is integrated with the pressure sensor, part 52 below. If anyone knows definitively, please correct me or give me my daily affirmation.

Check the connection, sure. Click Ricambi link, look at pictorial, find item, check connection.

I have some pics of my hand on it if you need photographs? You can reach it with a little arm twisting without disassembly. It has a tactile snap lock, if its loose it might be obvious.

*still assuming part #52 is both pressure and temp.

Agree w Trent. I would put my money on the lower of the two temp sensors above. I predict they use this one to sense the oil temperature and the upper sensor on the water pump for coolant. IIRC the oil flow in the engine on the bottom part of the air/oil separator is being measured by the lower sensor.

 

I think you are correct - the 360 oil temp sensor is in the same place near the starter/diff as that lower one. The oil pressure sensor is also in the same place on the 360 up by the filter, so these part locations may be carryover.

It does seem strange that both the temp and pressure are going crazy if their really are two sensors though... any other of your gages going flaky at the same time - batt, water temp, ??
