Here is an Anniversario asking $225k. ?? http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/find/4100_results.asp?bsubmit=true&lmodelflag=10331&lmanufacturer=10066&whatbutton.x=0&page=0&lCarID=1848860 Here is a well-known LP500S in the USA that has re-surfaced here: http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/find/4100_results.asp?bsubmit=true&lmodelflag=10331&lmanufacturer=10066&whatbutton.x=0&page=0&lCarID=1849244
Thanks Joe for posting this. I just wanted to make clear that the ad on the 5000S was NOT posted by me, and I have NO affiliation with this person.
Good to have that clarified as the car is not posted on their actual site. Thank you. You should get them to delete the posting. Buying a Countach nowadays must feel like swimming in a tank of sharks...
Hmm, pretty close. There was mine that I purchased from Roy and is having some mechanical stuff taken care of.
Absolutely nailed it. The several guys that I am helping or have helped have exercised incredible patience, especially Jason and even more so... thedoc...... Picture 2 Lambo guys holding hands getting fustrated...it's not a pretty site Me and Thedoc's story is one of jaw dropping that is beyond dumbass Frank in NJ with the darker red DD car. I can not say what car we were working on for him...... but we will in time.
The newest issue of "Motor Trend Classic" magazine (Spring 2012) has an article on a 1988 Countach QV vs Testarossa. In a side window they state values as: Concours-ready 105,950 Solid driver 67,925 Tired runner 42,100
I can see that for a Testarossa. Misinformed if they think anyone wants to unload a QV in this description/price range.
Perhaps the editor is a buyer. Another trait of the Countach market are buyers who seem to not give consideration to the fact that the market is always changing.
Without a doubt great point! That would create some order in the market, and confidence amongst buyers. Sellers would become a lot more realistic too. More sales, more enthusiasts getting into cars. Example: you'd look pretty silly as a seller if there are 3 LP500S listed at various prices from $120k to $160k, and then suddenly you list yours for $350k. In fact, I think if there was a legitimate market letter for serious collectors, it would discourage such activity which has affected the current market. I have learned one formula that always improves any aspect of life: find out what other successful people are doing and emulate it. This is far more productive than to poo-poo the Ferrari market, or be insecure about it. Who cares about being a rebel without a cause? I will always maintain that vintage Lamborghini values (Countach included) have Ferrari collectors (& others) to thank, as their interest has caused increasing values from the doldrums of $75,000 LP400 Periscopas less than a dozen years ago. I think we can learn from other markets to make the one we love better.
Thanks for your reply. You do realize that there is no better person for this than you! I hope you consider it someday.
Thank you. I'm already thinking about it. Publishing anything (book or magazine) is not easy, but this needs to happen at some point.
Yes I know the car. It is mine. It is for sale. I have an offer from a person in Japan that I am considering. I have my DD in right now and this car has been filling the void, lol, so I am not in a big rush to let it go. It has been a real great car. The strongest, fastest 2 valve carbed car I have owned. As I have stated, I did not post this ad nor do I know who this person/dealer is.
I agree. Lamborghini sellers (with their prices all over the board, and mostly waaay too high), makes them look like they are all looking for suckers. Then legitimate potential buyers start looking and they get offended, as they don't like to be considered 'suckers', and move on to Astons, Maseratis, Ferraris, or other cars that have a more mature market. I know sellers who have bought their cars well, and are trying to flip for a quick 40% to 60% return, not a customary 10 or 20% spread between wholesale and retail. Make buyers feel like suckers, and they will go elsewhere. Just because many over-$500k cars are experiencing a 'bubble' in appreciation does not mean that all cars can follow suit.
But with prices changing often, which many people here agree happens, what good would a publication be about market values? Isn't this the usual cycle were all the buyers and dreamers scream about prices going up too fast and owners/sellers saying tough, put up or shut up? This seems like the same old cycle every couple of years or so.. including a few outer space priced cars...... does someone put out a "letter" meant to break down the latest Ferrari sales and values?
Ken: I think you're barking up the wrong tree. http://www.ferrarimarketletter.com/nosuccess.cfm Ferrari Market Letter is a bi-weekly magazine & site where serious sellers list their Ferraris, and serious buyers go to buy Ferraris. It has nothing to do with discussions or opinions. Cars for sale, that's all.
I think that all of your questions and doubts as to the value and success of such a publication have already been answered by the Ferrari Market Letter and other such publications. The fact is that serious collectors have more impact on the price of our cars than someone with a ridiculous asking price on Ebay. I can't say that I know a lot of serious collectors, but the ones I do know are not going to be using current sales on Ebay as a negotiating point. These Ferrari collectors know that there is a community of enthusiasts out there who will watch their back. Unfortunately these same collectors have been scared to death of Lamborghini for a long time. They almost lumped them in with Lotus kit cars. Most wealthy individuals do not want to be burned, whether it's in real estate, stocks, or collectable autos. Our Lambo hobby will never be taken serious without a serious resource. Have you ever seen the word serious used so often?
I am really getting so "TIRED" of all this BS about "Sellers" getting "real" on their prices or their cars won't sell.. WHO the FRICK cares..it still comes down to a VERY VERY SIMPLE POINT.. "A car will sell for WHATEVER the seller is willing to let it go for and a BUYER is willing to pay for it" PERIOD END OF STORY! I am VERY sure I am ONE of these "out of their mind" sellers of the car's and the price I ask..OK, I except that. But let me point something out to you: I am happy to sell "mass production" Gallardo's, Murcies...EVEN 360 430 and 458 Ferraris all day long at market driven prices..BECAUSE if I dont, there are 100 others to pick from and buy the same day..not hard to buy, sell, find or replace any hour of the day.. BUT, cars of destinction, either Lambos, Ferraris, Porsche, Aston...what ever it is are going to sell ONLY when the SELLER ALLOWS his/her car to trade for what they are willing to let it go for and the BUYER is willing to pay for it. Maybe I am out of the "norm"....but cars as these....I dont NEED to sell to feed my family. I dont care if I sit on them for the next 5 years...they have a value to me AND since I HAVE the TITLE and ownership to them...they will remain with me till one day someone wants it as much as I have wanted it and enjoyed it. AND if not, no problem, I am sure you can search Cars.com for at least another 20 of them out there to choose from that will make you happy...best of luck..until then I, as many other owners, I will continue to enjoy there cars, while you sit on the side line "getting older" each day PISSED that I wont sell it for what you want to buy it for. OF course, the "other" alternative is to "buy" that so called GREAT price for a car and cry the next 10-15 months it is in the shop with out you enjoying it and end up costing you what a "correct" car would have to begin with. The "World" is ot coming to an end and there is NO REASON for a OWNER to part with his/her cars unless they wish to........and when they do, be thankful you are in the right place at the right time to accept a car that can not and will not ever be replaced..because they just do NOT make them any LONGER!
