308QV Whistling Noise Under Load

I have a whistling noise coming when acclerating (when engine is under load). It appears to be coming from induction? Car idles ok and runs fine. It also has tubi exhaust so can't be the screens. Has anybody here experienced this problem.

 

check the archive. There's lots of posts on this phenomena.
It's probably your exhaust tips.
And there's an easy test to check them.

 

I have heard this in i cars and is more pronounced when a K&N style filter is used. I believe that it is caused from air rushing past the metering plate. I have only heard it under part load and never from full throttle. Not sure if this helps bit its is what I have observed.

 

What year is the car?

 

Mine has a slight high-pitch whistle which only happens at part throttle when under load, and I can modulate it with the gas pedal: More/less pedal makes the whistle go away. I have a K&N filter (as mentioned above) and a tubi exhaust. Totally harmless as far as I can tell. Most of the time I can't hear it because of the other glorious sounds of the engine.

 

It's just whistling while it works.

 

Finally, a technical answer that makes sense!

 

+1 Corroborating.....I hear it too, under acceleration. K&N also. If you listen closely, it's whistling "That's Amore'".

 

Yes i have just done the major and replaced with K&N filter, so will try the old filter and see if the spooling/whistling sound goes away, Many thanks for all the replies.

 

If your car is a right hand drive I would assume that you hear it more due to being closer to the intake scoop compared to us with left hand drive.

Finally managed to put a UFI standard filter and test run today. No more whistling noise. Thanks for all the input.

 

K&Ns are just more musical...that's all.

 

I think all the injected cars do this.

In any event, it is normal so don't sweat it
