If it's a 321 like 355 dreamer says then it's a 1967.That was the only year (AFAIK) the cal321 appeared with the crown guard. The original bracelet would have been a 1039, looks like you have a 1171 which later became standard when fitted with the cal 861.

You own a real classic, beautiful. But then again I am biased :)

Thanks, very interesting info to learn about.

I'm going to have to find out the serial number that is inside the watch one of these days.

I assume any watch repair person can safely get the back of the watch off, true?

Also, any idea on where I can buy a 1039-style bracelet for it?

    Nice watch.

I've always been curious, what does the crown knob on the upper left do on a Seamaster?

I assume the right-side knobs do the following:
    - top right knob starts & stops the stopwatch function.
    - middle right knob sets the time. (and winds the watch?)
    - bottom right knob resets all 3 stopwatch timer hands to the zero position.

I tried to capture it multiple times but the light keeps reflecting off of it. I'll give it another shot!

I am on my phone and can't see very well but could that be a double chrono? Upper left could control the 2nd function

It is a helium escape valve. After very deep dives, pressure builds up and you can raise the crown to release the gases.

    Hi Toggie
1039 bracelets appear on ebay quite regularly, but are getting very expensive. The 1171 is a much better (IMHO) bracelet for regular wearing, it's more robust than the 1039.

Any watch repair shop will be able to get the back off for you.

    Thanks for the info!

I found this website with pictures of the different Omega Speedmaster Professional bracelets.
    http://www.omega-addict.com/reviews/bracelets/

After looking at the pics, I definitely have the 1171 bracelet on my watch currently.
This bracelet fits the watch perfectly and is very comfortable to wear, but isn't the bracelet that came with my watch originally (which is the 1039).

The 1039 bracelet has flatter middle links and has some sort of flexible connections between the links on both sides of the clasp.
This gives the bracelet some sort of flexible-fit characteristic, that I'm not sure I would like.

I'll keep my eyes open for a 1039 bracelet coming up for sale on eBay.
Although, to be honest, if I buy a 1039 bracelet, I might just keep it for "the next owner" of my watch and continue to wear the better-looking and comfortable 1171 bracelet.
