Does anyone think this thread should stop at 400 pages? Maybe it could start up again as More Old Photos II? CQ

0794 in UK around 1978 when owned by Anthony Bamford. It is happily driven here by Giuseppe Verdi (aka Willy Green). The registration is not acurate and the 1961 Le Mans winner never lifted a wheel like this...
You are correct. Only a trained eye would notice that the car was running on very different wheel and tire combinations than LeMans 1961. I am sure this changed the handling characteristics?
I read in another thread about special projects Ferraris that there was a gullwing being built for a client. Do you know anything about that? Inspired by this one, maybe? Thank you A
Where did you find that? I don't mind it being used, in fact I'm flattered, but it is my copyright. Thank you. Nathan
At Sebring 1955, Chester Flynn entered a 340 Ferrari Coupe # 12 to be driven by E Muñoz and R Morales. During practice it suffered an accident and did no started. Does any of you have pictures of this car? s/n? Any help would be appreciated
I have not yet made a serious attempt to identify this car but an ad appeared in MotoRacing dated May 4, 1956 that would be easy to presume is the same car. Chet Flynn (NYC, NY) offered a car as: "Ferrari 4.1 Mexico Coupe 5-speed gearbox. In perfect condition ready to race. Prepared for Sebring but not driven. Farina body. All latest modifications. $6500” 0318, 0320, 0322 seem the most likely possibilities. Each of these has been listed as "375MM" in some listings so one has to wonder then at the "340" implications of the "4.1" engine size. 0318 was seemingly destroyed on the Carrera Panamericana of 1953. 0322 was seemingly being offered in the USA as a "4.5" at almost the same time (also priced at $6500) so my guess would be "0320" for the Chet Flynn car. That said, 0322 was offered a few years later as a "4.1 Mexico coupe" as well. So, 0322 might be just as good a guess at this point. Someone should go back and verify each of the car's histories ... if the owner(s) have not already done so. Sometimes it is easy to accept a 40-year old assumption that has become "fact" ... but which never was.
Thanks John for all these great information, in particular Flynns ad in reference to the Sebring race; the terms "Mexico Coupe" and "Farina body" are confusing, but there is picture in Eddy Muñoz (YV) albums of a 340 Mexico Vignale Coupe, possibly captured in Pittsburgh and the only feasible trace that I know
Eddy Muñoz (+) was one of Flynn's team drivers and this is the picture he kept Image Unavailable, Please Login
This would be 0224/AM or 0226/AM. I would guess the former but not with any great conviction. 0222/AT is a remote possibility as it was supposedly sitting in Rezzaghi's showroom (San Francisco) as a "magnet" during the time period before and after Sebring 1955. Some photo studies will clarify. Some highlights and possibilities: 0224 AT 340 Mexico coupe Vignale (disegno Michelotti) Scuderia Ferrari (Cornacchia ??)
