Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

I don't know if you read this, but you're right on the money...

--They're going through 11,000 potential customers from around the U.S. and the world who earlier placed their names on the track's waiting list.

"It will be all 50 states and several countries," Moore said of the personal seat license customers.

Moore said slightly fewer than 10 percent of those on the waiting list were from foreign countries and 39 percent were from Texas. Californians account for about 15 percent of the list and Floridians about 8 percent.--

    http://www.statesman.com/sports/formula1/f1-track-selling-seats-for-as-much-as-2303252.html

Only 11,000 people signed up for the waiting list. That is a butt load of GA they are expecting. And they're saying every single GA ticket will be shuttled in, with onsite parking only for the big ticket holders.

This was posted over on the FoF1A facebook page... don't know who made it and it's in Spanish, but it gives some of the best construction views I've seen:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtAVqzkL8gk[/ame]

Makes me get a little excited. Not PSL-buying excited, of course.. but really wanting to see Lap 1 Turn 1 happen.

And again today... Not a word about COTA during coverage except for script. Why?

They got burned badly by the US Toaster debacle and want to keep well clear IMO.

I guess Bob's just told to read the script. (?)

    Cheers,

    I mean, it's so obvious...

Clearly CoTA is too cheap to pay off the other commentators, so only Varsha reads the "construction update" or Pirelli promotion ads. And he has to read directly from the script, so the backwards subliminal messages encouraging PSL purchase come out right.

I think Tim meant PSL sales going public in one week. Not regular ticket sales, I'm afraid.

Although it would be great if I am wrong.

Not to "the public". I think technically they have only been available to the $100 depositors who got on the early list. But, they have had the PSL info on the website to the public for a few weeks. So who knows.

But my feeling is no regular tickets available until June.

That is so ****ed up it's not even funny!

Every race bar India & Brazil last I checked are on sale at the F1 site - Includes "Club" and stand details, prices (*all* substantially less than the Austin rumors btw) and so on.

    Cheers,
    Ian

This is when they should be showing time-lapses videos like they were trying to do at the beginning. The progress in Feb, Mar, and April has been really major compared to all the previous months (at least visually). Would be neat to compare the current state with the beginning of each of those months.

So, say everything goes as planned and general admission tickets are sold this summer. Those GA tickets are supposedly not in the grandstands, but "on the grass"? I have been to south Texas in the summer and fall, and unless they lay down some sod, there won't really be grass, just dirt, right?

That's not a dig at COTA, but just a thought if you go, it won't really be like sitting on the grass like you see at other races. I was watching a race the other day on Speed (Alabama ALMS I think), where people were enjoying the nice grass, had awnings, chairs, coolers, and it looked pretty nice. I don't see the green being there in Austin by Nov. It's already 90 and still a drought in San Antonio this week.

It won't be like your front lawn, but there's native grasses out there certainly.

I would think they would hydromuch something for erosion control, and sprinkler systems to keep at lest the trackside part green..
