Why is acceleration better? Is the weight of 355 Challenge wheel + tire less than a 328 wheel with tire?

What offset spacers if any did you need? Hub centric rings?

Yes, probably about 4 lbs per wheel/tire. Not a big deal with a 500 hp car but more important with a 328. I would not say night and day but noticeable.

If you have the 88.5 or 89 328, no spacers necessary. Everything works.

Are those 18s? What size tyres have you put on those?

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, they're 18's. I know the colour is not for everyone but after a lot of deliberating I thought that it would really go well with the car. I am not disappointed!

I went with 225/40 18 in front and 245/40 18 in the back. Despite the bigger tires, the steering at parking lot speeds is a little easier. It either has to do with the higher pressures or the different compound or something. I don't think it has to do with the wheels. Maybe the lower profile helps with that?

The ride is a little firmer but I have a custom suspension from Ohlins that's more tuned to the 355 sport suspension settings. The whole combo really works with the car. It's incredibly fun to drive on back roads.

I love the color combo. All you need in my humble opinion is to black chrome the lug nuts to get a little contrast in the wheel.

Marc, you will have to see them in person. It took a long time to decide what color to paint them. The matte gold really looks nice in person. Kind of period correct yet modern and updated.

Nice! I would love to see how those gold rims look on a red 328.

Now that you opened that can of worms, do have have a link about your suspension somewhere on FChat? I would be interested in reading it. Wheels look good! Thanks.

Forgive me, I'll raise my head above the parapet: I don't like the look. Yes, they stand out. And in so doing, they really overwhelm the graceful lines of the car. When I look at this car, I'm staring at the gold wheels, not the Pininfarina curves.

As for looking "proportional", personally I don't think so. I much prefer the profile of the orignal XWX. My point of view is that if you want the look of a modern car, buy a modern car.

I'm not a fan of the gold challenge on the car either.
Maybe it's the gold, maybe its the 18", maybe its the challenge rims. I'm not sure.
But then I'm use to and in love with OEM.
I've seen std 355 wheels on a red/tan mondial T and that looked good.

Put me down for a 'definite NO'. I don't like the color-it looks too "unclean" to me. I'm also a fan of the concave wheels. Not convex. Sorry!

I'm sure it's not for everybody, whether it be the wheel size, wheel shape, or the color. Personally, it exceeded all expectations for me. Maybe I'll swap out for the stock convex wheels every now and then but imo, the car looks wonderful.

D, I had a rally engineer in Sweden make the suspension several years ago. I never did a post about it. Essentially, it allowed me to lower the car 17mm in front and 11mm in rear, firmed up the suspension immensely while keeping a relatively nice ride. And it dropped about 65 lbs over the stock set up. It's been amazing on all of the back roads and canyons.

Lowered and you still got 18s under it? Impressive. My 17s fill out the wheel wells and make mine look a bit lowered (225/45R17 and 255/45R17).

Yes but the diameter on the 18's is the same as the stock 16"s with the exception of the rears which are about 1/2 inch more (so 1/4" in radius). Really, if you look at the car, it looks about right. You know something is different but you can't really tell what.

    Dave,
255/45X17 in the rear is definitely going to make the rear look loaded up and jacked up. That's quite a bit taller than the stock 225/50X16. 245/50X17 is very close to stock diameter.

Just 1 inch larger diameter than stock, and it makes my speedometer more accurate. And my roof comes off...;)
