Four weeks ago we decided that we “needed” an interim car to hold us over until we could get the FF we specced. So we said yes to the kind offer the nice folks at Ferrari of Seattle made us and traded in our beloved 612 OTO for their demonstrator model FF. And we’re loving it!!!

The car had 1500 miles on it when we picked it up. It is Grigio FF outside, with Cuioio Toscano leather inside with Grigio Alcantara inserts. The car has most of the options including the luggage and rear seat entertainment. No CF bits inside. It’s gorgeous!!!

The first week we had it we took it to the folks over at Bellevue Accutint to get the windows tinted and paint protection film applied to all the front surfaces. The next week we took it over to Benchmark to get the Passport/Escort 9500 system installed. At the end of the second week of our ownership we had about 150 miles on it and were just itching to get it out and take it for a more thorough test drive.

So we drove to Orange County CA from Seattle to visit family. And we took a few smaller roads along the way. 3500 miles and two weeks later, we’re home and can’t wait to do it all again. This car is amazing!!!

It is the car we knew the 612 could be, if only it had a little more power and could really deal with slippery conditions. The FF holds a bit more stuff, and is a bit more comfortable. Its hella faster, more sure footed, and makes us giggle for hours on end.

I have a few minor complaints with the car, but overall, am more than pleased with it.
This car is awesome!!! It is exactly suited to the type of driving we like to do. We’ll put plenty of miles on it in all types of weather and on all types of roads.

Thank you Luca and everyone at Ferrari for making the car we wanted! And thank you Ferrari of Seattle for helping us to get into an FF a bit sooner than we had expected. We can’t wait to get the car we specced, but until then, this little baby will do just fine thank you!!

I’ve posted a trip report with a few pics we took along the way in a web page at http://brokenpoint.net/FFMaidenVoyage/.

I've said it before .. but I'm liking the FF more & more.

How have you specced the FF that you've ordered?

ps. I just read your piece .. FANTASTIC that you're using the car the way it is meant to be .. you should send FNA the link! Oh & any pictures of the FF looking "filthy dirty"? :)

The FF is starting to grow on me, it looks good, just does not look like a Ferrari to me. But, I love the look of those yellow calipers with the dark color! Congrats and great write up.

Great review, agree on the sat nav, cheap Chrysler junk. Glass roof is coming 2013 according to Maranello Atelier guy.
I also want a "Race " manettino and higher seats for short 5' 9" guys like me, otherwise it's a " Man for all Seasons "

Thanks for story eric. I saw two in person (finally) and love it.

Cariad, I really want to see the glass roof option.

FNA has seen my write ups and other more directed feedback.

Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of it really dirty: I was thinking we'd get one more day of driving and bugs and dirt, but then on our final day it rained on us like crazy for the last 200 miles and the car came home pretty clean.

The car we've specced will be Rubino Micalizzato with Nero interior, but right now we're still changing our minds about a few details. So while we we're really happy with the spec we came up with at the Atelier last Spring, now we're thinking another visit to the factory and the Tailormade group is needed to finish up some details.

That's funny Dennis: the part I like least of this car visually is the yellow calipers. I've lost count of how many times I've had to explain to people why my car has yellow brake calipers and theirs doesn't. I'd prefer the car to show just its lines, not the brakes. And the yellow doesn't match the shields well at all. Our spec will have grey calipers.

Ryalex: there's nothing like taking a Ferrari on a road trip! This car is the best we've had yet.

Cariad: I'm tall in the torso and find I can wear a hat, or better yet, helmet in the FF without having to slouch. So I'm thrilled at the seating position and tall cabin. But I can appreciate that it isn't for all: I'm just thrilled that I can fit so well in a car and have such incredibly good ergonomics. Take heart in the knowledge that you could experience the joy of driving a Lotus 7 (or similar) and I could barely expect to be able to squeeze into it, and never hope to be able to drive it.

I have heard similar info about the glass roof. I just like to poke the bear about it. I saw it on the configurator over 14 months ago and have been pestering anyone at Ferrari who will listen to me since.

Visited Ferrari dealer Lake Forest Sportscars today. Saw the Ferrari FF in person for the first time. Dissapointing would be an understatement.

I love your enthusiasm! It's awesome that you've already got a great story to tell about your "rental"...that FF is so hot though, it would be hard for me to part with that beauty!!!

Fantastic write up, really enjoyed reading it. It really is amazing how the FF appears to be a car for seemingly most situations and perhaps thats its true brilliance.
