Ferrari's design record over the last 10 years isn't really that great. The only cars out of (or just out of) the last decade that I would call truly pretty are the old 360, the 550/575, and the new 458. The 599 is just nowhere near as elegant as the 550/575 (it's too big, for starters), and the 430 was a conjunction of funky angles and bubbles. The 612 is even fatter and blander than the 599. The FF and F12 are both far too Japanese.

Ferrari's record of design progression out of the 90s is pretty half ass.

Those cars aside, even the Enzo isn't really what I would call pretty. It's stunning in the carbon, but that's about it. The rear 3/4 view is the best way to see it. Everywhere else, there are just too many angles colliding. Very little line form and flow.

I think the new car will be ugly simply because Ferrari's emphasis on eye-pleasing, external aesthetics has declined since about 2001.

    I hope I'm wrong.

As you realise, these are your personal views and many people would vehemently disagree with them! I find the Enzo absolutely stunning, like a fighter jet that has locked on to its target! The 599 is to my eyes far more elegant than the bland 550/577 and the F12 is just amazing, whereas the 430 is much more aggressive than the rather tame 360. We agree on the 458 and the FF though... lol!

I love these comments which we are supposed to take as facts and not opinion from a guy who doesn't have a Ferrari and has a Japanese car.....
So the F12berlinetta looks too much like your Nissan 200sx? ;-)

IMHO every one's opinion of recent Ferrari design is as valuable as everyone else's.

I personally like the 458 but don't like the FF or the F12.

I hope Ferrari's next Enzo looks good but feel based on recent designs that is not a slam dunk.

Whats wrong with owning a Japanese car, are you mad about getting beat by them?

I cannot believe I am even responding to such an idiotic statement.

No reason to attack what he drives. Uncalled for and elitist.

He has the right to his opinion.

The last one I loved was the 275 GTB. The last one I liked was the Daytona. I realise I'm getting old but generally like mid engined cars. I liked my 308 and TR a lot.

I do like my Alfa 8C and Meg's Bentley CGT.

The 8C is a great design, I feel so sorry that the car is such a disappointing
    drive.
It would habe been great to see what Wolfang Egger would have presented
at Ferrari. Now he is lost with the industrialised designs of Audis.

I agree on the 458 and FF, on the F12 I'm still unsure.
Can't help but to think the same about the next Enzo.
Expectations should be low in terms of the design to
don't get disappointed. It would take Ferrari's design
team a great portion of courage to risk something new.

But just to imagine that the front and rear will resemble the
current "family language" gives You and idea that the
Centro Stile is moving on very thin ice.

Nevertheless, I hope they will all surprise us and that
Maranello can still come out with a "hell of a design".

This is my opinion after driving the car for one year/3000 km.

The car is so damm beautiful, but by using the GranSport
components from Maserati they just missed a historical chance at Alfa.

The steering, handling and ride are just worlds apart from
what the design promised. The build quality of my specific
car was also well below average.

I'm really a great Alfisti and it hurts to don't give the car
a better judgement, but every Ferrari of the past few years
is so much more rewarding to drive.

Yes, the car is a real sculpture!

To drive it is the Passo Corto of modern times. It is unbelievably rewarding to drive, but and it is a BIG but, you have to really drive it hard to understand what it can do.

It is really well balanced with the 'box at the back and is immensely "chuckable"

As for the finish and fit, I must disagree with you as I told them at Ferrari that the 8C is proof that when they want to, they can!

I too love Alfas, but this has nothing to do with an Alfa! It is a Ferrari design built - sorry assembled at Maserati with Ferrari (engine, 'box) parts.

There are only 500, the Spider is well, ugh

A great car from yesterday, for tomorrow....

I wish the new F car would be close to this one in terms of madness.

Actually, I am prone to think that my 200SX has better line form and flow than the F12...which means that you didn't really understand my comment. I have an old Japanese car that actually has decent, simple lines; it is the new Japanese designs that I tend to disregard, and it is those new design cues that Ferrari seems to follow after.

Most cars designed after, oh, about 2003-2004 I really don't care for.

My opinion is just as valuable/worthless as the next man's. I don't qualify it by possession of whatever I happen to be discussing, so please don't do that for me.

    Thanks.
