I've got an 84 380SL, in near excellent condition, 66K miles, was my moms since new.
    Hard top has rust.
Anyone have one / had one and dealt with the rust?
    what did you do? Cost?
(I guess this would apply to any car with a removable hard top)

    thanks

Thow it away and look for an almost new one hanging in someones garage since 1983...They are out there and very cheap. When I lived on the mainland I had people giving me them. Shipping will probably be your largest expence. They built almost 500K units so there are plenty out there. Mark

i use a product like rust-mort, basically is muric acid, converts the rust on contact, so it doesnt spread....it's not a fix, but it'll stop the current progression

Only way to "fix" rust is to sell it...Mark's advice is true, get a new, old, one. And be glad it's not a 230SL,they're expensive.
    Cheers,

    Ps,and 450/380/560 SL all the same,I think.

    I've been looking a bit.
seems all of them for sale have the same rust problem, or have crappy paint jobs, bad headliners, etc.
