Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

As long as they use the right grass and irrigate, you can have a green lawn year round in Austin. We have a bunch of golf courses and resorts that do that... so it shouldn't be a problem. Won't be cheap though.

I put down fall rye grass in my back yard each year, so Nov-Apr is actually when my backyard is the most green and soft. The rest of the year it's St Augustine, which will go dormant sometime in the summer.

Also they have put up their hotel booking page. Looks like perhaps some hotels were holding back rooms for this, because there seems to be availability.

Sort of what I am saying is it's possible, but with the construction, I don't see them re-planting anything or watering due to cost before the race.

True, true. Hope it is decent for us GA people. I'm not expecting a golf course, and we are planning on just walking around most of the time anyway.

As said before, just let me buy a ticket already so I can make plans. Just saw that Rush is playing in San Antonio on 30 Nov, so I may stay for that, too. Their tickets are on sale now...

Rush the movie or the band? Ron Howard's Rush is being filmed as we speak... if tickets are already on sale for that, I'm in!

Well apparently now if you booked a big money, non refundable room you're a sucker because on their website theres a plethora of rooms to choose from at more reasonable costs, some closer than others. To me, driving an extra 30 or 40 miles on race day is worth saving $250+ per night.

I have called it out WAY back lost in the thread, but Homestead Inn and the Mansion Inn along the river in New Bransfels are wide open and filling up with Fchatters already....

Some of the Suites at the Mansion are two and even three bedroom so plenty of spaces for multiple families/couples...

40 minutes back to the Track, maybe less if I can get local Police escort for the exotics.....working that angle now also.

Are you going to be one of the lucky 18,000 parking at the track?

The COTA plan seems to be shuttling to the track from somewhere between San Marcos and Kyle. So us less fortunate will be riding in from there. That's about 30 minutes to New Braunsfels.

The plan they have for parking and the size of the grandstands are both ridiculous, IMO.

Gig' Em Aggies! My daughter will attend TAMU this fall. She got a athletic scholarship for the Equestrian Team. So I'll be spending several week-ends in Texas over the next four years.

I'd love to buy you dinner when you come down....

We need to introduce her to JRVs old friend, Ed Perwien and his Bluebonnet Farms, in Belleville.
He casts a pretty long shadow over the equestrian scene in Texas.

    Very very nice gentleman.....

Look me up when you come into town. You'll like my garage. And my wife is a horse person and well connected locally. She rides dressage and has an Irish draft/thoroughbred cross as her principal ride. So do PM when you have some spare time in town. And finally, we have a few GOOD restaurants.

"Marching" would imply more than one person in step, and maybe a unifying pattern of movement, if I recall my High School years in the band at football halftime.

I guess I need to get ready, when the flood of unpurchased seating goes on the market.

I like the part about parking the Rental Car "on the prarie"....this is East Austin, it'll be on four CMU bricks when they come back to it.

"Comments" are spot on, this is marketing 'as if' they had built an entire STADIUM of sports seating, not a motorsports event.
    Time will tell.

    Yep.

Check out this article that hit a couple of days ago, this time from an old Mexico City newspaper called Excelsior.

Link to the Spanish version: http://excelsior.com.mx/index.php?m=nota&a...id_nota=832247#

We did a google translation & it was pretty disjointed, so my FB: FoF1ATX buddy cleaned it up a bit. Here it is:

With the above translated article there is no way I will plan a trip to Austin. Too many other tracks nearby in Europe. Before I do I will allow at least 3 years to pass. Thanks for posting the article.

So all the Mexican fans will potentially save this or attend. Not if they give this article any consideration.
