Gentlemen, Just in time for the breakfast of our american friends, this thread from a french internet site http://www.sportune.fr/sport-business/f1-ferrari-des-liens-avec-mark-webber-pour-2013-59477 ...which iI wouldn't consider as the most reliable on Formula One, is announcing that Mark Webber has, according to a Spanish newspaper, already signed a contract for replacing Felipe at the wheel of the Ferrari next year. I find it hard to believe, but if someone has any other information... best
Doubt it. I really don't see Webber going to a team where he definitively be the number 2. He is having a hard enough time being beaten by Vettel; he's not going to a team that won't let him win. Mark
Why would Webber want to go to Ferrari? He would be somebody else´s number two again, but in a worse car. And I´ve read elsewhere that Telmex has not renewed their contract with Sauber... Right now, all of this is the usual BS to fill the F1 section of the newpapers when there are not races to talk about.
It sounds somewhat unlikely but if true I'd be delighted. I like Webber a lot and would enjoy seeing him in a red car.
If the news came from a spanish newspaper you can relax..it won´t happen!!! Apart from a few people, spanish are totally in the dark when it comes to f.1. Before Alonso they hardly knew it existed...on the other hand, they are very knowledgeble and bif fans of Motogp but, when it comes to f.1 they simple don´t have a clue!!!
An Australian, a Spaniard, and a group of Italians?? I smell a sitcom, or a potentially hilarious joke. That said, I wouldn't mind Webber with Ferrari. I doubt it will happen, but the more interesting question is what would happen to the Red Bull seat?
I'd like to answer this question by this answer: "Kimi, the arctic mute" (well, actually not so mute these days..) but I do believe his Lotus contract is for two years...
Webber will never go to ferrari, ferrari doesn´t need a driver who is ending his carrer and that is slower than the one they already have. If they change massa is for someone who will be able to be a future champion, surely a young and talented guy. As for Red Bull seat, at present, The Renault seens fast enough to win races so i think Kimi is in the right place....if Kubica returns, things will be more interesting.....if not, both the sauber boys are showing they deserve a shot at better machinery.
You can say that again. Perez seems to be the most likely choice at this point, and he happens to be already involved with Ferrari. We'll find out soon enough.
Yeah Webber is not slower than Massa. He would surely only go to Ferrari if he was going to retire at the end of the season and wanted to tick that box and say he drove for Ferrari to his grand kids. I don't see it happening because he never ever has indicated any want to go to Ferrari before. Pete
I wasn´t talking about Massa, we already know that at this point there are plenty of guys quicker than felipe...back in 09 there was probably none....
Oh, my fault, I figured you were talking about Massa. Oh well, to be slower than his teammate would be nothing new to Webber... I'd like to see him in the 2nd seat while Perez gets groomed another year. Gets to end his career as a Ferrari driver, not a bad deal for all involved.
I was never a big fan of Mark's....i liked him at jag because he was really fast at qualifying...he still is but, at williams, he seemed to be to soft during races, he was terrible defending his position...he usualy qualified ahed of Nick but then, Heidfeld would start gaining places while Webber started to go backwards...in the end, Heidfeld had better results. Than he chopped Kimi's front wing at Brasil 09 and that was it!!!
Not quite right regarding defending his positions. He is the worst starter on the grid, that is his problem. Mark nearly won Monaco while at Williams ... engine failed with only a few laps to go, if I remember right. Pete
