Yeah I guess, I'm just very hesitant to move things around in Lightroom, I always feel like all my edits are going to disappear.

I could get one of the cheaper SSDs, but then I know I'd want one for my entire library which is closing in on 350GB, not to mention everything else on my pc.

If you import a library, you preserve all the edits.

Ah, ok I had to go back and look at what you did. How do you import an entire library into another? I was thinking you were moving folders around inside of a single library, that's what worries me.

From the File menu, I believe it's 'import from library'

BTW I have moved folders around too when I re-structured my data set. Works fine. LR doesn't care where the image files live. You can move them in explorer and re-link in LR, or you can move in LR. Either way you don't lose edits.

With all this talking I thought I'd post another shot from the other night to keep us on topic. :D

Also, working on a deal to trade my Mac Mini for a 70-200 f2.8, really hoping the guy will come down in price just a tad.

"Import from another catalog" Interesting, you learn something new everyday.

    That sounds right.

I sometimes take my MacBook with me on weekend trips. Same process to go from it to my PC. Works great, and you get the benefit of working within smaller libraries (which tend to perform better).

I can see how that could be really useful, you won't need to keep a synchronized library over multiple pcs.

Also lets you segregate work. Like if I go to visit the family in San Diego and happen to go to the zoo, I'll build individual catalogs, one for family photos and one for zoo photos. Makes the later import to my main catalog simpler since I have high level folders like PEOPLE into which I put family photos and PARKS into which I put zoo photos.

I do the same; Cars, Family, Sports, Travel, Work, Random and then break it down by event and then date. I've had it set like that for a couple years now, but it took forever to initially setup.

    Nice ^

For some reason I'm a sucker for ground squirrels. I probably have 1000 pics.

Didn't expect a bee to fly by.

70-200mm f2.8 non-IS just came! Date code puts it as a '98, but I swear it's sharper than my old one which was a 2008/9. Besides some of the markings being rubbed off this thing is in great condition. Here is a shot wide open at 200mm ISO 1600. Can't wait to put it to use at the end of the month at the Indy 500, should be a challenge with the 5d2 AF though.

There is something satisfying about being able to login to this site every blue moon, when I have 2 minutes, and see this thread I started still going strong after 8 years.
I always have enjoyed popping in to see the new random photos.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed.

I did NOT take this picture; borrowed it from a childhood friend's FB page. He is currently serving on a Navy ship in the Pacific Rim.

    Thanks, Chris.
I'm fortunate that it's my local drinking hole :)

The shot from the Navy ship is awesome as well!

I'm starting work on a horse-racing photo project. Want to try and capture the close relationship of man and beast working together, but in a gritty and dramatic way. Here's the first in the series...

    70-200 2.8 IS II? or non-IS?

When I've used the 1st gen on my 5D II, it just isn't that sharp.

Non-IS. It's an old model though, date code says '98. I had another a few years ago and it wasn't as sharp as this one.
