I had the privilege of photographing the Fly Over , I was standing at the World Finacial Center Pier in Battery City , I watched it at a distance from the Verrazzano Bridge traveling North on the Hudson headed toward the Tappan Zee bridge . It was flying at a low altitude favoring the NJ side like Edgewater , Liberty state park . It returned headed south down the Hudson toward the Statue Of Liberty .

I was able to shoot it with a 75-300mm lens to capture a decent image , Next time I need something more powerful , I am usually photographing Ferrari's and not space ships . I did want to go by JFK but there was no telling which landing strip it would go to , If it was going to fly over Howard Beach or Rockaway BLVD . Then I wanted a NYC Back Drop but Figured I was shooting against the sun so play it safe and get a pic with a NJ Background .

Glad to see a part of history.

Here are a few images .

Wow! Close enough to see the cheezy aero kit on the 747 with the tack-on winglets and fake (no doubt) underbody "NASA" ducts. I guess if I had a 747, I'd probably mod it also.

I got the key for one too.

My dad's friend was on the board of directors for a cargo airline and would stay with us in the us when picking up new airplanes from Boeing and he gave me the key they give you when you buy a new 747.

Thanks, I think my 500mm f/4.0L was actually a bit much, I wasn't expecting it to fly nearly right over my head.

Thanks for posting that. Now that I've made an exact copy of the key, I just need to find where your Dad's friend parked his plane...

(Did you see the overdone carbon kit on the underside of shuttle, too? A little much for my taste.)

Was taking off at JFK and the pilot told everyone to "look to the right". Glad to have seen it on the ground. Missed it flying around NYC.
