That depends largely on what ones defintion of "best" is. At 1.6 million GBP it should be special, I am pretty sure one could maybe strecth to an Enzo, F12 and 458 spider and have perhaps some change. I do love what Pagani represents, something truly bespoke, a rolling piece of art.
Best is too broad of a term. Everyone's definition of best is different. I do love Pagani though Interesting is definitely right. If your willing to pay, they will build it
Curious to see if they get creative with the design. Each Ferrari super car look totally different, I hope the continue that way
All new models from most companies will be tailoured to suit Chinese tastes as that is THE market ... Not much the rest of us can do about it. Pete
Chinese, as with Japanese and Americans and whoever, appreciate European design because of it's European-ness, not because it mimics a local aesthetic. I'm postulating that the name will be F65 for the 65th anniversary of the company. -F
car doesn't look to bad apart from that air vent on the bonnet. Love the howling banshie sound of the Zonda
Please explain the current edge designs then if they are not trying to mimic or appeal to our Asian coleagues. Nothing european about them IMO. Pete
If the last Ferrari you loved was the 275, then that's a long time to wait for your next love. Fortunately, you took the initiative and commissioned your own one off. But perhaps I might suggest another explanation rather than the clumsiness of pininfarina for the past 45 years! Some more than others, through experience and insight and time, change. Perhaps your eyes see things differently now.
I can't argue with that. I suspect it has more to do with "Asian" design sensibilities making their way into the design schools and studios of Europe rather than the designers saying "Let's make our classic European brand look more Chinese." If that is the reason then these designers and design team leaders are dumber than I thought. -F
I don't think this has anything to do with China. Chinese buy European exotics regardless of shape or form anyway; they buy into exclucivity. Thing is that people refuse to change and are sometims stuck in the past.
Horacio Pagani actually designed (or helped designed) the 25th Anniversary Countach for Lamborghini. He worked with Lamborghini before forming Pagani.
I take most pleasure in automobiles that intentionally compromise as little as possible. The Ariel Atom, for example--there was very little lost from idea to final production. The ideals of the founders and designers are very clearly seen and felt in the driving experience. Pagani is the same--except with the emphasis being on attention to detail and packaging. His ability to match carbon panels, his interior design/execution, his distinctive exterior characteristics, etc. Pagani and Ariel (and those like them) do not answer to a pre-established market. They just set out to do the best they can, and the market forms around them. And to be sure, any company creates its own market and then answers to that market to some degree...but not without what eventually becomes a lot of compromise. Pagani compromises almost nothing, save for the DMV regulations he has to abide by. Performance is an easy thing to come by. Undiluted passion is quite another thing. Pagani embodies this for me. He does what he wants and does it to a degree of precision and passion that I see no where else in the business. IMO.
Ferrari already has that covered pretty easily... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The US still out sells China 3 to 1, this will not change in the next 12 months. As far as far edge driven design being a product of catering to the Chinese market, Ferrari made "edgier" designs prior to China even becoming a market. All you need to do is look at Leonardo Fioravanti's later work.
Obviously this new car will only be available to Selected customers like the Enzo With the same Conditions as in you can't sell it in the first year wouldn't that mean then in the second year a used Version would fetch near 2 million? Cause if it was any less it would lower the re-sale of an Enzo.
That looks good but too similar to the MP4 12C. I hope the final car is different, it lacks a wow factor.
yawn .... so boring, same again Ferrari seems to keep moving forward without having to shamelessly raid the back-catalogue. All McLaren can so is try to relive the F1. The reason the F1 was so iconic is that it tore up and re-wrote the rulebook. Grodin Murray can do that - without him it seems McLaren can't.
