I have searched a bit on this and come up with very little, but has anyone here completely removed the air injection system on a 1995 F355? I am changing out the headers to an aftermarket set and I was given the option of having them built without the air injection rails.

I figure anything I can do to simplify things in the 355 engine bay is a good thing, given it appears to be a whole bunch of vacuum lines and clutter that only functions to reduce cold start emissions.

    Anyone been down this road?

I did it on my '96 although I have the option of re-installing everything since the air injection rails are still there. Would definitely prefer no rails at all but who knows what the future holds (testing/visual inspections etc.)

Do those have the swaintech coating? I'm thinking of going that route this winter.

I only removed the pipes, hoses, hardware, one-way valves near the engine/valve covers (basically the stuff in the top third of the diagram). This gives a bit more space in that area of the engine and the parts will not deteriorate from heat and vibration (may have to put them back on one day). Of course I disconnected power to the air pump.

I removed the rails on mine (95 2.7) years ago (about 7k miles) My air pump was shot also, removed that along with all the pluming, had the header primaries replaced, welded up the ports, and heat coating applied. No regrets.

The chrome looking cap that is on the header, where can you find one?

Just a thought, but would the F355 Challenge cars have the air injection system removed?
