I am looking for an italian sedan like an alfa 159 to wrap in police livery with lights sirens etc as our camera car for crescent classic.

Having a hard time finding anything that is suitable and affordable, suggestions..?

I actually did this for my shop in the 80's. I took a Giulietta Sedan and painted it dark blue and added the white stripes and Carabinieri on the side. I added a blue rotating light I got from a store specializing in outdoor lighting.

The cops in LA stopped us all the time. They said it was illegal to have a car that looks like a policecar.

I said "It doesn't look anything like a LAPD patrol car". They said, it didn't matter. Someone from another country might be confused and stop if they see it. It's illegal to impersonate an officer.

So, I took off the blue dome and Carabinieri name.

My point: It might get you in trouble.

Mine looked like this (this is not it though). My customers loved it but the LAPD didn't :( They wouldn't have liked the motor either. It was a full race version 2 liter!

We do crescent classic with in conjunction with a police department, so we should be good. I know we can't turn the lights on....!

I have been to a few car shows where there are 20-30 old California cop cars and nobody ever stops them from driving on the street I think the guy was just busting your balls

in CA only police cars can have blue lights; so technically Bob's fake Alfa police car was illegal (note that the cars in your pic have red lights). even the fire trucks/ambulances can't have blue lights here.

Nothing illegal about that Alfa except the blue lights-no other issues as far as the California Vehicle code is concerned. Black vehicles with white doors are another matter altogether. Pre 76 vehicles are OK as long as they display movie car placards and/or out of service. All red/blue lights must be covered while driving.
We have a few vintage squad cars and have a blast with them. Here is our original CHP 69 Polara Pursuit Squad. 440 Magnum and all the goodies-still pretty fast as it was considered the fastest police car built for decades.
