At least it is staying in the USA!! I guess we can NOW re-adjust the figures of TRUE selling cars with my recent sale of the S2 low Body and now the 88 1/2 DD countach... I guess they were not ment to go to a "Ferrari" collector that thinks Lambos are all over the board.."Could have, Should Have"......which of course is fine with me... http://www.catsexotics.com/web/used/Lamborghini-Countach-5000-QV-1988-Lynnwood-Washington/1049437/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
That would be nice, but one sale of a peticular series does not change the market (as much as I wish it would!). I would imagine if one or 2 more sold in the same ball park. I hope it sold at or near your asking price, it would be great for all. It would be nice if you could ever stop taking jabs. No one really does that to you.
I surely dont sell cars at a loss...I am quite pleased, as is the buyer.. And not sure what you mean by "Jabs"..I guess some secret Language..?? And of course there will always be an excuse to cover someones previous "Quotes of Un-sell-able" no matter HOW many get sold.. Just a no win situation..I guess I am one of a few ahead of the curve and NO DARN well what these cars are worth and what they should trade for NOW and in the future..BUt no one has to buy a car from me..go get the basket case that will cost MORE when you are done with it...
Thanks, Roy. A pleasure doing business with you. Can't wait to get it home and out on the road! An awesome car. Kirk
Good job Kirk. Yet again a Vintage Ferrari owner appreciating Lamborghini's Countach classics, and stepping up to give it a good home. This car is more similar to 12670 than it is to 1120068 which I sold you, so I know you'll enjoy it. Margaret & I are just getting back to speed after our Kentucky Derby weekend, but we will speak soon, this car has a very interesting history which I know you'll appreciate. Best,
Enjoy..it is a very very nice machine..and I am sure Joe will have more info to share with you on it then I had in my possession, you may want to contact him for the books and other printed material he said he had for the car... Roy
Did your horse win...?? Our Horse Track here is not the best..but it is a great sport to watch and enjoy..and if done correctly, make a few bucks as well..'trifecta" YAHOOOO
Sorry you feel that way..BUT...herer let me help you out by blowing your own a bit.. Anybody have a 'Ford" they need work done to, he is your man..so says his add.. www.blueribbonautoservice.com
Roy, FWIW, we are already in contact. Kirk happens to be a client of mine, and I have sold & re-sold a Countach LP400 'Periscopa', and a Countach Annivesario to him and on his behalf, over the course of a number of years. I am aware that this deal is being held as "confidential", so the numbers cannot be procured to assist the market in one way or another. Having said that, as Peter points out, a single sale does not a market make. As to what your are suggesting Kirk might glean from me, I can assure you that we have always had and still do have a very gentlemanly & cordial relationship, and I would not hesitate to assist him in any way I can. He is aware of his. Best,
You actually follow horse racing ??? Ive done so for 40 years. Here is a thread we are on, why don't you join in and contribute ?? So few people really know anything about the sport. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=357328&page=6 Yeah, Longacres is no Santa Anita or Churchill Downs for that matter, but any horse racing is fun. Our collection of Kentucky Derby images. http://www.flickr.com/photos/joesackeyclassics/sets/72157629677636417/with/7019952663/ We appreciate the history of the event and the fact that it is the oldest major sporting event in the USA. A little synopsis for you: Between 1875 and 1902, African American jockeys won 15 of the 28 runnings of the Kentucky Derby. The Derby is known as the Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports and it is the oldest major sporting event in the USA. Also known as the Run for the Roses, the winner receives approximately $2 million. Derby participants are limited to three-year-old horses. No horse since Apollo in 1882 has won the Derby without racing at age two. Bodemeister tried to reverse that this year. A few famous sayings that sum up the allure of the event: John Steinbeck - "The Kentucky Derby, whatever it is—a race, an emotion, a turbulence, an explosion—is one of the most beautiful and violent and satisfying things I have ever experienced." Irvin S. Cobb - "Until you go to Kentucky and with your own eyes behold the Kentucky Derby, you ain't never been nowhere and you ain't never seen nothin'!" My money was riding on Bodemeister, consolation being California horses came in 1-2. Winning owner J.Paul Reddam is our neighbor, neat guy, not a typical boastful braggart, but one who lets his success speak for him. Classy, classy, classy. Couldn't have gone to a better guy.
Wow,......had a feeling. Will you make it to Pocono with it? I have Kirk's Urraco. Kirk goes through cars like .........
I think Kirk is very smart. He is what I call a "revolving collector" choosing to have fun with a particular car for a couple of seasons, then pass it on for a great number having had the full experience, before ownership becomes prohibitive. This way he enjoys a large variety of cars in his lifetime. Having said that he's owned the Ferrari Daytona a long time. As always I will be there to help with this QV DD also, not to suggest that this will be anytime soon.
As you should be. Congratulations. The one comment I should make is that your statement at the beginning of this thread that: "I guess we can NOW re-adjust the figures of TRUE selling cars with my recent sale of the S2 low Body and now the 88 1/2 DD countach..." doesn't apply. The number you sold the S2 is within the range of figures already established in the Countach values thread, and the undisclosed private number achieved for this car does not establish a new market by itself nor can it impact the market unless that number is disclosed. Accordingly, there is nothing to re-adjust. If another QV DD sells for a similar number and the number is disclosed, the range of figures in the Countach values thread should then be adjusted. Meanwhile lets stand by to see if another similar car achieves a similar number and that number is disclosed. If so, we will then have a new range.
So many cars, so little time...it would be great to try every one of them once! Yes, I think I will be going to Pocono. You have the Connecticut event that weekend, though, right?
Roy, I am with you on value the sale you archived will dictate. Others saying that one sale does not make the market are entitled to their opinion, but I disagree. These cars are not like the mass produced cars that sell at a Mannheim auction and than set the national MMR as value. How many Picassos need to sell to set the market? I think condition and quality will always be a factor in determining value, but I am ready to make a bet that a price of a real DD will start with a 2 from now for the average examples with $275K as being an easily achievable number for the best examples. Geno
Of course, spoken like a true DD QV owner who paid a "2" number Look, you make some good points, but you make some exaggerations. "$275k....easily achievable".. ?? I don't think so. I'm in the trenches doing this day in and day out, speaking with all the interested parties reading and posting here, and I can tell you that 400-plus DD QVs built is a bit different from a one-off Picasso!! Also you have to ask yourself why this deal is "confidential"? The fact that it is, means it cannot impact the current range, however, it can be noted, but it will take at least another sale publicly declared at a similar number to produce a shift in "market" values. Lets see if that happens before we get too exited.
Well in all fairness..I know Gene's DD and IMO it was and is worth every frickn penny over the "2" paid for it. BUT please..FIND me another in his condition that I can BUY TODAY for less then "2" starting number and I will gladly wire this afternoon AND throw you a "Finders Fee' Joe. As far as a One-Off Picasso against 400 build...again same theory..please find me ONE of the 600 plus Picasso paintings he completed that I can buy for 1/2 of all his others works... The Lamborghini cars of distinction ARE ALL works of art, they do not have a lesser value just becasue there was more then ONE made..they have been way under valued for years and are now starting to get the care, the attention and the love of collectors they deserve..IMO.. As a side not..take for what you want (as it was NOT a completed sell). I have recieved and offer for my LP400 that started with a "5", I respectfully declined...and I am sure I have not heard the last offer from this possible buyer as it was his FIRST offer on the car. *Dis-claimer, with the exception of the newer mass produced cars...of all brands*
