    All,

I had asked Roy not to disclose the price that I paid for this car because I am a very private person who does not believe everything about you needs to be disclosed on the Internet for the world to see. Roy honored this agreement as a good businessperson would. Maybe it's my age -- 51 -- but I do like my privacy. That being said, I understand that it would be helpful for the Lambo community to know the number in order to continue to build the database of values. After all, if I had bought the car at auction, the number would be out there. So, I suggested to Roy that we should disclose the number -- his response was he would go along with whatever I decided to do. So, to those who have interest, the sale price of the car was $248,000.

Top end of values scale accordingly noted. Bottom end stays the same IMO.

    Your points are duly noted.

But please, lets stop droning on with the Picasso comparo. Yeah we all know that many see these cars as "works of art". But the fact remains that over 400 of them were built to essentially the same spec in a factory on an assembly line. Lets take the rose-colored spectacles off. Each Picasso work of art was a unique piece. Quite a bit different. FWIW I am working on a Blu Acapulco DD QV that can be bought circa $165,000-ish. Nice car too.

In Europe, the DD QV, is not a scarce car.

    A pecking order does exist.

A car will only sell, when a buyer and seller have reached an agreement. A sale or two, does not set the market price. We have sellers that want the moon and buyers who want to pay well below wholesale.

Some sales are above and below retail and wholesale prices. Does anyone remember, from a few years ago, the red and black Islero, that sold for approx 39K ? The seller needed to pay service bills, for engine work, on a classic V-12 F car engine. Flipped in the 90's, just a few years later.

I am sure, we can also post examples, where a buyer clearly paid too much, for a particular car.

But why? Would it not be benefical to all if that 165k was higher.

Then we could say, solidly, that Roy and Joe sold DD for 248k and x amount. That will be the start of the rise, no?

This "confidential" stuff about prices that cant be found out is BS. Anybody with the will can find out the sale price. It has to be disclosed (or at least a value has to be) to govs agencies etc... unless the car is sold totally under the radar which I am sure is not the case.
This also brings the idea of taxation. How many cars were officially sold for less than they actually were? How does this computes with the insurance value ? I cant see ANYONE assuring a DD for $275K at cost value. No way

As far as Taxes, many states are differnt. SOME States..after a car is 20 years old have a FLAT tax..regardless of what it sold for..others DO charge based on the selling amount. There is NO connection between a SELLING RECORDED bill of sale and the VALUE it is insured for..MULTIPLE insurance companys will insure the car REGRADLESS of your "Bill of Sale" price..

Case in point..I had the DD at a Stated amount of $275K with CD Risk Managment with no issue..I have the LP400 at $750 Stated value with no issue..YES you pay the premium for the coverage, but if you are willing to pay it, they will cover you..(with in reason-not like 3 million for the LP400).

I will do so. As some people on here know, I am a longtime Lambo owner, but usually only one at a time. I started off with a 94 Diablo VT in the late 90's and then a Diablo SV. Then I started to move backward in time with a Series I Espada, then a Miura S (4515 -- since modified to a fake SV by Adam Corolla), an Anniversary Countach, an LP400 Countach (outstanding car), a Series 3 Espada, a Urraco (now owned by Peter), and the silver Anniversary one-off Countach. Have owned some Ferrari's and Porsche's as well but always keep coming back to vintage Lamborghini's because I love the history of the marque and the camaraderie among the owners/enthusiasts. This Blue Tahiti DD is a car that I just could not pass up, and Roy was a pleasure to deal with on the transaction.

Kirk's Espada was the one that had a 120k-130k resto (plus price of that car!). Perfect condition.
I bring the car up for 2 reasons, one is that I saw it in person....it was sweet! Secondly, back a few years ago, we were shocked that someone spent enormously on an Esapda (and lost $). Today, we would not be that shocked.

That's the number I'm negotiating with the seller. He bought the car a long time ago. Nice & completely original. Top end of the engine done within 200 miles & no major mechanical work needed. However, some minor cosmetic attention is required which will make it extremely nice. Having said that, I have never come across a Countach that to my eyes could not benefit from some cosmetic attention or minor rectification, not a single one (with the notable exception of Annivesario 12670).

This car is not being offered for sale. It is being purchased for my client at my normal facilitation.

We shall soon see how nice it is...

True, and as I always point out (and a complete side note from this thread), I did not spend that much on the car (although the price I paid was a high price for an Espada at the time). Sold the car on Ebay in 2008, to a Prince in Bahrain, for the BIN price of $65k which was a nice profit over what I paid for the car a couple of years earlier (when it had already had the $130k restoration dollars spent on it by the previous owner.) Sorry, Peter -- had to clarify lest you all think I am insane.

Is it safe to say that you really have no control of the price of this sale? That is, unless you were the type to pay 165K and "flip" for 225K.

Yea, that would be a shame..GOD FORBID a person in the "Business" of selling cars makes a profit....after all they dont have overhead, shipping, insurance, employees, advertising, taxes, money tied up in inventory, property taxes, building loans, electric bills, water bills, repairs to the cars not to mention the occasional loose on a car....etc etc etc..once you add all that in..those bad terrible "flipper types" dont look so bad...

not to mention, those that think it was "flipped" should have bought it whhen they had the chance..

I mean afterall, every other business I know of sells at cost or less....right?

Peter, actually we do have control and its a straightforward deal, already spoken for to an end-user at $165k plus 5% facilitation of $8.25k = $173.25k. My guess is he will spend another $10k in cosmetic TLC on the car.

183 is starting to look like a good deal nowadays. With all the interest here in one day though, maybe the seller should have put it out in public, here or ebay first just to drum up offers and talk... then see what if would have brought.....??? (mind you NOT sell it on ebay, but advertise)

Still amazes me how many owners are not on the forums or don't participate.
