Well, since you're already watching it, I'll say that the premise and actors in it held promise to me and then was just disappointed with it.

Kinda like Event Horizon. But I STILL like watching Event Horizon.

Rented this movie called "The Darkest Hour". Set in modern day Moscow, a group of Americans get caught up in an Alien invasion. The aliens themselves are really interesting as they are practically invisible. It really made you think.

The first half hour is pretty good but it falls apart badly after that. Good concept, poor follow through, just OK special effects.

    A let down.

Started Whistelblower, about a cop who ends up in a UN mission to Bosnia, and witnesses something. Only saw about 20 mins, then I had to stop watching and deal with real life issues. Intend to finish it this weekend. Impressions so far: a bit grim, but well made. Characters are a bit wooden. Interesting story, but slow plot development. Hope it doesn't end up in a boring, drawn-out trial scene like the English Teacher.

    Anyone seen it? Thoughts?

I saw it, I liked it. Some parts like I said could have been more believable.

Superman: The Movie. The one with Christopher Reeve.

Never seen it before, very campy and cheesy compared to modern movies, but that can be expected I guess.

One of those movies I don't need to see again for the rest of my life :)

To think that this movie was ground-breaking when it was released. Remember tho... it'd before CGI.

I didn't know there was a Thor movie until a friend told me after seeing Avengers. I'll get it at RB.

Saw the Avengers last night. I can't agree.

Came home and watched Bottle Shock to balance things out.

Watched with my 2 year old last night. I wont spoil the end for you but George Carlin did a good job, music selection was excellent, some political undertones noted in the dialogue. Not for the faint of heart.

I didn't expect to like Thor but found it surprisingly entertaining.

I haven't seen Avengers but my expectations are very low. It just seems like too many characters thrown together "Summer Blockbuster by Numbers".

Both of the Hulk movies (Eric Bana & Ed Norton) were a waste of time and Iron Man 2 wasn't nearly as good as the first one.

So it seems the "franchise" might be weakening, and putting them all together gives them 15 minutes each. My guess is the story is nearly zero.

This one will be a rental in a few months, but who knows Captain America and Thor were both better than I expected.

Oh by the way I was forced to watch Alvin & the Chipmunks 3: Chipwrecked over the weekend with my daughter. Awful.

Thor is a pretty good movie (one of the best super hero movies). I wasn't aware of that character/hero but I thought the movie was incredible (do yourself a favor and watch it on Bluray/HD TV, the visuals are stunning).

I was a little skeptical regarding The Avengers because my expectations were very high (I saw that the movie got 9 out of 10 on IMDB user ratings, which translates to "as good as it gets"). But it was nothing short of BRILLIANT. I will watch it again and again once it's out on Bluray.

Just saw The Cabbin In The Woods last Sunday at the Cinema. A semi-original twist on horror movies. If you're a horror movie fan, just go and watch it.

I also saw Paper Man (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437405/) few days ago. A little boring, but charming and kind of feel good movie. Recommend it on a lazy Sunday.

Believe me, comic book superhero movies are near bottom slot on my priority list (excepting old boyhood faves Superman, Batman, and Spiderman, and more recently, Hellboy), but Avengers was an exception, well worth seeing. Story's def not literary fiction, but works, plenty of good humor, superhero characters play off each other well, Sam Jackson rocks as the big boss, Scarlett Johanssen a feast for the eyes :)

I passed on Alvin many years ago, will continue to do so.

Even though I'm long time Star Wars fan there are certain parts of this documentary that I can't all agree with, super fans sure can be a scary bunch.
