Thanks again for your comments on how to get around with escalators/elevators. Was a piece of cake this time.

I won't be there for the GP but some of the Australian friends I made in the past couple of weeks. They really made their long journey worthwhile:

    - F1 experience
    - Historic GP, some other went to Barcelona GP
    - Some went to the Mille Miglia Classiche
    - Moto GP in Le Mans
    - Nuerburgring "taxi" ride
    - Monaco F1 GP

These guys know how to party and travel. And Monaco in May is the place to be at.

I've done Monaco several times in the 80's and 90's and it is an experience, but the last time - 97 it was so croweded it seemed that if you were not invited to a specifc party / viewing spot you just did not belong... anyhow if you are in the "right" circles - its amazing ... but not a great place for a true gear head... its a very social experience... and expensive.

Assuming the weather cooperates and you get good grandstand seats (I always go for top row in K so as to look forwards from the exit of the tunnel over to the swimming pool and backwards to the start/finish straight up to Ste. Devote) it's still pretty good. As for cost, while race tickets aren't cheap I've got a good in-town hotel that doesn't cost a fortune (albeit with a 5-night minimum, which is standard during race week), at least by MC standards, so it's hard to give up going- I book the same room year-to-year.

The engines are loud!!!!!! Forget earplugs, buy the headsets at the local vendors. Cheap, about $20 , but worth every penny

Edward. The best ice cream is Morelli's, Cafe de Paris. Once you've had that, NOTHING will ever taste as good !

...new McLaren in the showroom here in Monaco....very nice combination. The car is very colour dependent, but this one really hits it out of the park. Seen a few on the streets....it is much better looking than the pictures suggest. Many, many 458/FF/Cali's... Aventador in matt black is the most sinister car i've ever seen. Fantastic.
