+1....if Fernando wasn't winning, Williams is a good sub. I think Alonso leads the WDC though.

After 8 years of jockying around with the rules.....F1 has finally achieved what they wanted to achieve and thats NASCAR type racing in which anyone can win almost anytime. F1 is no longer the pinacle of motor sport. Its just another way to make more money at the cost of "real" racing.
BTW I have always been a staunch MS fan and excited that he came out of retirement but even I have to admit that he is looking more and more like an idiot.

Nice drive Fernando. Now if they can get Pirelli to stop making crap tyres, the races would be so much better. Hate seeing cars driven below their capabilities just becaus the tyres dont last

Dont you get it? The crap tire and 1 million variations is all part of the plan to keep the racing close.

They wanted to get rid of the Ferrari dominance so they limited budgets and tightened the specs so that non-Ferrari fans wouldn't just stop watching. Subsequently, guys like Brawn and Horner were able to exploit gaps in the rules, but this year they finally have the parity they sought. It's as if each ar is good at certain tracks, but no car is good at every track.

Frankly, it does make for a better spectacle

    Sad but true.

If tire choice strategy can effect race results it adds to the interest but the situation now is such that no matter how the teams work their strategy it comes down to chance.
    Exciting but not sport.

Kimi always takes a swig before spraying the champagne. Good gesture by FA. He's the class of the group this season.

Wonderful race from Pasta and the Williams team. Terrific effort from Renault and Kobi also. More surprise points for Fred, all good.

Makes you wonder what the remainder of 2012 will have in store for us....;)

Im sure one could be created. You just need to offer an unlimited racing budget, refueling all you want, use whatever tire you want, and wide open development and testing. Oh wait....that used to be F1. Its now all about the money they can rip out of our pockets and whats so sad is that many racing fans are getting sucked into this crap.

+1...while the rules have killed the runaway team performances (which I understand by they didn't like that), F1 feels far too contrived now.

They institute rules in the name of cost cutting that reduce component failures taking legitimate chance out of the equation and then come up with cockamamie gimmicks to reintroduce chance.
    Contrived?

Well they skipped the national anthems for another Mercedes commercial.

Seriously, did they have 45 minutes of commercials in a 2 hour broadcast?
